Multi source heat pump air conditioning system

Air conditioning system utilizing low temperature heating sources of the environment, so as to maximize the heat coefficient of performance (COPH) by conserving subterranean heat, atmospheric heat, solar heat and auxiliary heat sources in combination with a reversible-cycle water source heat pump, by absorption of heat energy into a liquid (water) and by applying said heat energy to the heat pump evaporator during the Heating Mode of operation to be absorbed by the refrigerant at low temperature.

Air conditioning systems require energy for raising and lowering air temperature and which can be assisted by the storage of "solar insolation" heated liquid and/or conversely by the storage of chilled liquid, and also assisted by absorption fromor into the surrounding ambient air. The collection of solar heat energy is normally within a range of nominally 100° to 180° F. or higher, while the heat pump can be assisted from a water source within a range of 55° to90° F.; and to these ends I have provided a stratified thermal mass wherein the solar heat is stored at high to low temperatures, from which the heat pump withdraws heat at moderate temperatures of 55° to 90° F., and whereinresidual heat at low temperatures is utilized for auxiliary purposes such as to pre-heat a domestic hot water supply or the like.

It is substantially total environmental assistance for one or more liquid or water source heat pumps with which the present invention is concerned, a comprehensive concept which involves the conservation of energy, both by collection of allavailable heat sources, including solar insolation, terrestrial re-radiation, auxiliary absorption, and assisted by heat absorption to or from and from within the system under whatever conditions. The more or less predictable collection of solar energyin a thermal mass is variable to say the least, and water source heat pumps have a practical operating range, at times below the temperature of said thermal mass storage of solar energy and at times above said thermal mass temperature, at whatevertemperature variant said mass might be above or below the range of normal heat pump operation.

In accordance with the invention provision is made for extraordinary conditions, one to apply heat as by theapplication of external energy and the other to remove heat. Studies have shown that heat pumps consume far less purchased energy than other conventional heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems employed to heat and cool buildings. Significantimprovements in performance and reliability in heat pumps have been made and with energy problems and the escalating costs of energy, present day heat pumps are more economical than ever before, and all of which is of increasing concern to utilityplanners now desperately attempting to maximize the use of power generation. Since heat pumps utilize more readily available and useable low temperature energy sources, further reductions in purchased energy consumption by heat pumps during normalheating periods is a general object of this invention.

The conventional reversible-cycle heat pump is similar to a refrigeration machine and has the same basic components, namely a compressor, condensor and evaporator. Consequently, the heat pump has the lowest operating cost of any present day electrical heating/cooling equipment, providing that a usefulheating source is made available throughout a substantial portion of the operating hours. The same advantage is available with "water source" heat pumps with which this invention is preferably concerned. Therefore, it is an object of this invention toadvantageously employ such heat sources as the underlying earth, the surrounding atmosphere, solar radiation, and auxiliaries such as space lighting etc. within the building to be conditioned. As a result, there is an unexpected increase in theCOPH in the operation of said water source heat pump, for substantial energy saving during both the heating periods of the day and night.

Low temperature heat sources such as the earth and the surrounding atmosphere are useful energy sources when combined with a heat pump capable of utilizing the same to increase performance. It is preferred therefore to employ a water source heatpump that advantageously utilizes water heated to a low temperature by the ground temperature ambient of about 55° F., and water heated by the air ambient of about 55° to 80° F. as the case may be. It is an object therefore toprovide means to acquire a water source at the ground ambient of about 55° F., in practice a heat exchange well sunk into the earth a substantial depth.

Solar assisted heat pump conserve energy by combining the thermodynamic features of a heat pump with the relatively low temperatures (50° to 90° F.) readily available from flat plate solar collectors, it being an object of thisinvention to provide a balance between solar energy generation and its utilization. In practice, solar panels collect heat up to about 160° F., and it is therefore an object to proportion this heat source with chilled water for maintainingoperational water in the range of 55° to 90° F. It is another object to provide storage for both heated and chilled water, the latter to be employed during the cooling cycle so as to assist and permit a reduction in power demand, forexample to reduce summer demand peaks that are often experienced by electrical utilities. It is also an object to provide a modular solar panel installation which establishes an integral roof structure, and which is convertible for both heat absorptionand heat rejection.

Heat Pump Water Heaters and Their Problems for Homeowners

Are heat pump water heaters the most economic water heaters you can buy? While those within the industry will tell you yes, some homeowners will disagree.

The need for the efficiency of an economic water heater has driven many homeowners to try the heat pump version. These same homeowners will also vary in the level of approval they have for them.

As far as an economic water heater goes the heat pump version seems like a really good idea. But a few things stand in the way for most homeowners. When it comes to the financial side of being a homeowner this is a very real world concern.

First, obviously, there's the upfront cost of a heat pump water heater. These things can be pricey to say the least. Some homeowners feel that even with the overall savings of this sort of an economic water heater, the upfront cost of the purchase, can make it prohibitive, and therefore not a likely investment.

Even the advantages of an economic water heater and what can be done for the family's long term utility bills, and for energy conservation itself, will not be realized if a family cannot afford to make the initial up front investment itself.

Then there's the design of most homes. Many houses lived in today were built long before the needs for an economic water heater were ever considered. Even modern houses are being built that don't factor in the space requirements for a heat pump version of an economic water heater.

So, besides the cost of the system itself, now many folks considering this sort of an economic water heater need to also have the renovations done to their home just to fit the thing in properly in the first place.

Limited availability for most homeowners is another drawback to this type of an economic water heater. Unless you're in a commercial setting, an "add-on" version of a heat pump system simply is not available.

The need for an entirely new system is a major drawback for most consumers. As for using a heat pump style of an economic water heater, with high up front costs, an unfriendly residential design community, and the strong possibility of an installation error by untrained labor, the concept of a heat pump economic water heater just isn't feasible for most.

If you happen to be in a commercial environment and are looking towards this type of an economic water heater you may find yourself in luck. Many add-on systems are available that will make use of your already existing electric water heating system.

For those in this situation a heat pump system may very well be the best version of an economic water heater system.

Heat pump setback temperature control with cold weather override

Multistage thermostats have been used for a long time to control stages of heating wherein a refrigeration heat pump is used for one stage and auxiliary electrical strip heat is used for other stages. Also there has been a continual need forprotection for refrigeration apparatus when exposed to cold temperatures such as electrical heaters for the outdoor compressor unit for maintaining the unit warm during the inoperative period. When heat pump apparatus is used for heating as the firststage in a multistage control system, during normal temperature control at a high heating load with low outdoor temperatures, the compressor is almost continually operated.

When a multistage thermostat control system is used with a night setback thermostat, the controlled temperature desired in the space is setback to some lower level during a selected period of time. During a portion of the setback time, there maybe no call for heat and thus the refrigeration heat pump can remain idle for an extended period of time before a call for heat brings it into operation. During low outdoor temperatures, the starting of the heat pump after an extended inoperative periodcan result in damage. Additionally, if the space temperature is allowed to drop for a night setback during a heavy heating load with a low outdoor temperature, the pickup load to bring the temperature back to normal is extremely great. The controlsystem may by necessity need to bring on the more expensive electrical strip heat for a pickup operation.

The present invention provides for a means responsive to outdoor temperature to maintain the refrigeration heat pump in operation when the outdoor temperature drops below some predetermined value during the setback time period. During lightloads even though there is a low outdoor temperature, the continuously energized heat pump may result in an increased space temperature; therefore, the invention contemplates the use of a temperature responsive element mounted in the space to overridethe continuous energization of the heat pump should the space temperature exceed some predetermined value during the setback period.

A multistage timer control setback thermostat control system maintaining a normal temperature in a space and during selected time periods a reduced temperature wherein a first stage is a refrigeration heat pump, the operation of which is affected by outdoor temperature, and a second stage is an auxiliary electrical heating source. An outdoor temperature responsive means is connected in the control system to maintain the heat pump energized during the space temperature setback period if the outdoor temperature is below some predetermined value. Additionally, the indoor thermostat has a high limit temperature responsive means for terminating the operation of the heat pump should the space temperature exceed some predetermined value during the space temperature setback period.

As the outdoor temperature drops below the 35° F. temperature, thermostat closes to maintain the heat pump continuously energized during the setback period of time. If there is sufficient heat output from the heat pump and theinternal heat in the building which might come about by lights or cooking and people to exceed the normal day setpoint of the temperature, limiting thermostat opens to turn off the heat pump. With such an operation of the heat pump continuouslyduring the cold weather below 35°F., upon morning pickup the amount of heat requirement from the auxiliary heat is minimized to increase the efficiency of the heating system.

Many compressor manufacturers also have been concerned with extended off periods of the compressor during cold weather which can lead to premature failure of the heat pump. The continuous energization of the heat pump by thermostat at lowoutdoor temperatures with the exception when the high limit thermostat might open not only increases the efficiency of the system but extends the life of the heat pump.

The refrigeration heat pump has a compressor and an indoor and outdoor heat exchanger wherein the efficiency decreases with the lowering of the outdoor temperature and its operating life is extended when the compressor is not allowed to stop whenthe outdoor temperature is below said first predetermined value, and the auxiliary heating heat source is electrical heating apparatus, which when used during pickup periods of operation after a setback time period, when the space temperature is at the setback temperature, to restore the space temperature to thenormal temperature, is more expensive to operate than a refrigeration heat pump.

Are Heat Pump Water Heaters Even Available Anymore?

Boosted air source heat pump

Boosted source heat pump (BSHP) is presented having a primary compressor, a booster compressor, an economizer, and a lubricant management system. At least the primary compressor is a twin-single compressor. The lubricant management system includes traps to prevent migration of lubricant to a non-operating compressor, and aspiration tubes from the sump to the low pressure intake zone to each compressor.

The air-source heat pump system is the most prevalent type of heat pump used in the world today. This is the case whether one is discussing room units, residential central type, ductless splits, or rooftop commercial systems.

Although the air-source concept in general has a high application potential worldwide, its popularity in the United States and elsewhere has been greatest in mild climate areas. This is because the compressor-derived heating capacity of typical prior art units declines rapidly as the outdoor ambient falls, due, in most part, to the large increase in specific volume (i.e., decrease in density) of the outdoor coil generated refrigerant vapor as the ambient (outdoor) temperature falls.

This fall in compressor-derived heating capacity is obviously opposite to the heating requirement, which increases as the outdoor ambient temperature falls. When a typical prior art heat pump operates below its balance point (about 35° F.-40° F.), supplemental heating is required. The most prevalent form of supplemental heat used is electric resistance. In other than mild climates, this use of supplemental electric resistance heat puts the air-source heat pump at a serious economic disadvantage to a consumer as compared with other forms of heating (such as natural gas, oil, and propane), because of the high cost of electric resistance heating.

Electric utilities are also very concerned because of the associated large transformers and distribution systems that are required for any large populations of typical prior art heat pumps whenever high electric resistant (KW) heat backup is required on a regular basis for large population.

When operating at low outdoor ambient temperatures such as 0° F., homes heated by typical prior art heat pumps require as much KW input from the utility as does a home heated by electric resistant KW alone. This is not acceptable to the utility as they would have to increase their generating capacity to supply the demand. In other words, a Northern utility that was summer peaking would now become winter peaking because much more KW output is required for electrically heated Northern homes than what is required for cooling those same homes.

One of the areas for capacity and efficiency improvement of air source heat pump systems lies in the recovery of significant heat energy currently remaining in the condensed liquid refrigerant leaving the system condenser. If this remaining energy is recovered and returned directly to the heating side of the system before being thermally degraded and sent to the system evaporator as low density vapor (as is now the case in present day systems), significant increases in compressor derived heating capacity and C.O.P. can be made at lower outdoor ambient temperatures.

The basic problem here is that after the refrigerant has been fully liquefied in the heating condenser, there is still a large amount of energy left in the leaving warm liquid. This remaining energy evaporates a large portion of the leaving liquid itself during the normal pressure reduction process that is required to develop the necessarily low evaporating temperatures. Depending on the refrigerant utilized, and the degree of temperature existing between the evaporator and the condenser, as much as one-half of this liquid can be evaporated during this normal pressure reduction process across the system expansion device when operating at the lower outdoor ambient temperatures.

Obviously, if this liquid has already evaporated, it cannot be again evaporated in the system evaporator, and thus cannot absorb energy from the outside air. However, the net resulting vapor must pass through the system evaporator anyway, creating additional pressure drop along its way, and then must be inducted and fully compressed to the condensing level by the compressor, thus requiring the necessary power to accomplish the compression. The C.O.P. of this portion of the heating process is only one (1) because no energy has been absorbed from the outside air.

Since the compressor must induct this previously evaporated vapor, the compressor can only induct a correspondingly smaller amount of vapor that has been derived from the cooling of outside air (by evaporating the refrigerant liquid that does enter the evaporator along with the previously mentioned vapor). This is not a reasonable process for typical prior art air-source heat pumps operating in other than the milder ambient temperatures because only under those conditions is the relative amount of liquid to vapor (by weight) sufficient to result in a good system C.O.P.

In addition, if the entire space heating requirement at 0° F. outdoor ambient is to be supplied by compressor derived heating capacity, the air flow across the heating coil of the condenser must be such that the indoor delivered air temperature will be around 105° F. in order to provide adequate freedom from a sensation of cool drafts. This in turn will cause the system condensing temperature to rise to around 115° F. considering a reasonably sized indoor coil surface.

This is exactly what has happened in the marketplace of today. Air source heat pump is no longer purchased for use in cold climate areas for reasons of both poor comfort as well as the very high cost of the electric energy requirement.

Microprocessor control for a heat pump water heater

Microprocessor based control system monitors and controls a heat pump water heater system and interfaces the water heating system with an external centralized control system. The microprocessor control system includes sensors, safety switches, device interface relays, user interface devices and precanned software to provide versatile monitoring and control over a heat pump type water heating system.

The system generally involves a typical heat pump coupled with a domestic water heater, hot water retention tank or other body of water. The control system provides operational control over the heat pump to maintain the hot water stored in the domestic water heater in a predetermined setpoint and controls the use of electric resistance heating elements in the domestic water heater for added heating capacity for quick heat recovery type operation. The control system receives a centralized signal typically from a utility company to disable heat pump water heating operation during peak demand time periods. Control logic is provided to carry out effective liming parameter control, high evaporator temperature control, and defrost/anti-freeze protection control.

It is known to replace or augment conventional electric resistance water heaters with heat pump water heaters as a more efficient means of producing domestic hot water. One prior art method of controlling such heat pump water heaters has been to use two-position bimetallic type thermostats which are generally provided in domestic water heaters as the primary operating control. An example of such a prior art heat pump water heater control circuit may be found at U.S. Pat. No. 5,255,338 (Robinson, Jr. et al). One advantage of this type of arrangement is that the hot water thermostat is located directly in the hot water tank.

A disadvantage associated with the above described method is that two-position bimetallic type thermostats are not as versatile as full range type sensors, such as thermistors, and are not as effective when used with microprocessor type controls. Another disadvantage is that tying into the water heater thermostat and control wiring often results in voiding UL or other industry certifications. Other prior art systems have placed sensors directly in the hot water tank, which results in the disadvantage of added retrofit labor and material costs and, again, the possibility of voiding certifications.

While the comparison of energy costs between heat pump type water heaters versus electric resistance type water heaters favors the use of the heat pump, one detraction from the use of heat pump type water heaters is the issue of quick heat recovery. In keeping the costs of heat pump type water heaters comparable with the costs of electric resistance type water heaters, manufacturers have tried to minimize the size of the compressor used in heat pump type water heaters. An unfortunate result of this is the reduced heating capacity of the heat pump water heater unit. While a typical electric resistance type water heater will deliver 16,000 BTU's per hour of heating capacity, a typical heat pump type water heater has a much reduced heating capacity of 7,000 BTU's per hour. Accordingly, when a large demand for hot water consumes the hot water stored in the hot water retention tank, the electric resistance type water heater is able to more rapidly heat the replacement cold water than a typical heat pump type water heater.

For consumer satisfaction, a quick heat recovery rate is essential. For this reason heat pump type water heaters are most often used in conjunction with conventional electrical resistance type water heaters. The electric resistance heating elements are generally used to compliment the heat pump water heating capacity during periods of large demand. Another problem typically associated with heat pump water heaters is that of liming, which effectively reduces the capacity of the unit and may eventually lead to compressor damage. A prior art method of preventing compressor damage due to liming was to include a high pressure switch to terminate compressor operation upon excessive pressure being exhibited in the heat pump system. A draw back associated with this is that the compressor is shut down, often prematurely, with no advance warning and a service call is required to place the unit in an operating condition.

Another condition associated with heat pump operation is that of high evaporator temperature, which corresponds to high suction pressure. Generally, the suction side high pressure limit for a heat pump water heater type compressor is 90 PSIG, this corresponds to an evaporator refrigerant discharge temperature of 62°.

In the case of an earth ground loop system operating under summer conditions, the loop temperature will often be in the range of 80°-100° F. or above. This results in elevating the evaporator refrigerant discharge temperature above 62° F. and tripping the high suction pressure limit switch. Prior art heat pump water heaters coupled to a ground loop system simply lock out compressor operation based upon a high pressure limit switch located on the suction side of the compressor. In the case of air-to-water type heat pump units, freeze protection on the evaporator coil is of prime importance. Prior art heat pump water heaters utilize a two-position bimetallic type thermostat which locks out compressor operation upon experiencing a freeze condition at the intake of the evaporator coil. To place the heat pump unit in a condition for operation, a service call was necessary or at least a resetting of the freeze-stat by maintenance personnel.

In one embodiment the invention provides an electronic control system for controlling a heat pump water heater including a compressor, an evaporator, and a condenser coupled with a hot water retention tank to form a hot water circuit. The hot water retention tank includes means for receiving water from a supply and provides domestic hot water. The heat pump water heater control system consists of the following components.

Methods for refrigeration and heat pump cycles

Improved hydrogen-hydride absorption systems for improving the energy utilization in refrigeration and heat pump cycles comprise reactor systems for chemically forming three or more hydride components, means for supplying heat to and removing heat from the hydride in the respective systems, and means for conveying hydrogen between the several reactor systems.

A method for deriving improved heat pump effects from a narrowly temperature differential thermal source and sink by means of three or more hydride components is achieved by successive pressure staging between a series of hydride components over the narrow temperature range of the thermal source.A method for deriving improved energy utilization of a high temperature thermal source for refrigeration by means of three or more hydride components is effected by cascading pressure differences between hydride components.A method for the combined improvement of power production and thermal energy recovery at a higher intermediate temperature than the low temperature energy rejection of the power cycle by the heat pump effects, which method employs the cascading of pressure differences between hydride component systems.

For continuouslysupplying relatively high pressure hydrogen gas, a plurality of hydride-dehydride reactors are provided and are operated in out-of-phase or staggered sequence so that during the period when low-pressure, relatively cool hydrogen gas is being charged toone of the reactors, another is being activated and another is being dehydrided to produce high pressure hydrogen gas. The pressure energy of the gas thus developed in the hydride reactors is used for continuously developing power and refrigeration, following which the hydrogen gas, at reduced energy, is recycled to the reactors to recommence the HDH cycle. In order to chemically compress the hydrogen gas in the form of its hydride, a low-grade thermal source is utilized to supply heat to theseveral reactors.

Methods for deriving refrigeration and heat pumpeffects are described. One hydride component system operates as the equivalent of a mechanical refrigeration system. A low temperature thermal sink is provided by supplying the heat of desorption to a reactor of this hydride component system. Thehydride component system then rejects energy as the heat of absorption at an intermediate temperature. The second hydride component system operates as the equivalent of a heat engine cycle. A thermal source at a relatively high temperature supplies theheat of desorption to this component system and heat is rejected as the heat of absorption at an intermediate temperature.

In the method of operation of the heat pump absorption cycle, the heat engine cycle equivalent of one hydride component system operates from an intermediate temperature thermal source which provides the heat of desorption. The heat of absorptionis rejected to a low temperature thermal source. The second component hydride system which operates as an equivalent mechanical refrigeration system has, as its refrigeration load, a thermal source at an intermediate temperature which provides the heatof desorption. The heat of absorption is rejected at a high temperature which is the heat pump effect.

Improved absorption refrigeration and heat pump systems and methods for effective energy utilization are presented by this invention. Refrigeration and heating are continuously and efficiently generated directly from the heats of desorption andabsorption, respectively, of three or more cascaded hydride component systems.

The improved refrigeration is achieved by cascading or paralleling operation of three or more hydride component systems so as to decrease the hydrogen pressure in stages over a relatively narrow temperature differential between thermal source andthermal sink. Each cascading between hydride components requires a thermal source at a relatively low temperature and a heat output at a slightly higher temperature. The entire cycle is completed by raising the last component hydride system to a muchhigher temperature so that the equilibrium pressure is great enough to hydride the first hydride component system in the process of cascading between hydride components.

The improved heat pump system works by pressure staging between hydride component systems so as to increase the hydrogen pressure. Each pressure stage between hydride components requires a thermal sink at a relatively low temperature, and athermal source at a slightly higher temperature. The entire cycle is completed when the last hydride component system in the cascade has raised the hydrogen pressure sufficiently to hydride the first hydride component system in the pressure staging.

Another aspect of the invention allows for improved efficiency in heat engine cycles for the production of power by allowing them to operate with lower temperature thermal sinks. The use of the cascaded heat pump system with the thermallyrejected energy of the heat engine cycle allows heat to be output at a higher temperature than the thermal sink, thus providing useful thermal sources.

Magnetic heat pump flow director

A fluid flow director is disclosed. The director comprises a handle body and combed-teeth extending from one side of the body. The body can be formed of a clear plastic such as acrylic. The director can be used with heat exchangers such as a magnetic heat pump and can minimize the undesired mixing of fluid flows.

The types of heat exchangers can encompass both heat pumps and refrigerators. The director can adjust the fluid flow of liquid or gas along desired flow directions. A method of applying the flow director within a magnetic heat pump application is also disclosed where the comb-teeth portions of the director are inserted into the fluid flow paths of the heat pump.

Refrigeration and space heating systems used in industry and for domestic use have relied on Freon gas-cycles. Research has shown that the release of Freon into the atmosphere deteriorates the ozone layer in the Earth's atmosphere. The ozone layer is a protective layer that shields the earth from ultraviolet rays. The resultant harmful effects from an increase in ultraviolet rays can cause serious problems such as higher incidences of skin cancer. As a result, magnetic heat pump technology has been developed as an alternative to the use of Freon gas-cycle to provide refrigeration and space heating. The magnetic heat pump has the potential of being more efficient than a compressor driven refrigerator by using less power for the same amount of cooling.

A magnetic heat pump consists of a rotor of magnetic material such as gadolinium, which slowly rotates through a magnetic field formed from magnets. The type of magnets used can depend on the degree of cooling desired. For greater cooling, a super conductor magnet may be used. For lesser cooling, a permanent magnet with a weaker magnetic field may be used. The rotor has an enclosure with flow passages to allow heat transfer fluid to move through the rotor. The control of fluid flow direction through the rotor is difficult because the fluid has to flow into, through the material, and out of the material in one direction as the material is moved in the opposite direction.

The magnetic heat flow direction control was accomplished by using magnetic material machined in disc shaped plates. Flow directors are placed in fixed positions around the magnetic rotor. The flow director blocks the flow forcing the flow in another direction. The flow directors are made by machining comb shaped pieces. The teeth of the pieces fit between the plates of magnetic material. The plates of the magnetic material rotate and move between the stationary teeth of the flow director. This enables the desired relative flow direction of fluid and magnetic material.

The system demands that fluid flowing in and out of the housing, containing the rotating rotors, must follow two separated loops without mixing. The difficulty occurs trying to separate fluid into two loops within the same housing without being mixed. By installing a flow director, a comb shaped piece fitted between the thin rotor plates at the loop separation point, enough restriction would be developed by the comb shaped pieces to properly direct the fluid flow. Darcy's equation indicates that introducing the flow director provides adequate resistance to guide the fluid flow through correct directions with very little mixing.

The first objective of the present invention is to provide a flow director for a magnetic heat pump that allows for fluid loop flow through correct directions with a minor amount of mixing.A second objective of the present invention is to provide a director for controlling the direction of fluid flow through the magnetic material in the magnetic heat pump.A third objective is to provide a flow director that can increase the operating efficiency of magnetic heat pumps.

Further objects and advantages of heat pump invention will be apparent from the following detailed description of a presently preferred embodiment which is illustrated schematically in the accompanying drawings.

Geothermal direct expansion heat pump system

Geothermal direct expansion heat pump system wherein subterranean heat exchange tubes have an internal diameter to length ratio of between 1/4000 and 1/6000, with 5 tubes per ton of BTU capacity; where the interior air heat exchange tubes have 50% of the interior volume of the subterranean tubes.

Where the thermal expansion valve is sized to match the interior air handler capacity; where the receiver holds 75% to 95% of the total refrigerant volume; where a pump down sequence is employed on system shut down; where an oil trap is installed at the vapor line existing the subterranean heat exchange tubes; and where 4 refrigerant cut-off/isolation valves are installed for service convenience.

The compressor is usually driven by electric power, and constitutes the element which forces the refrigerant around the circulating heat transfer loop between the interior and the exterior of a building. It is also possible to include a pump for circulating refrigerant or water in a system utilizing a liquid fluid that does not change phase. Typically, electrically driven fans are provided to force air over the finned tube heat exchangers so as to reduce the amount of finned tubing necessary to effect the desired thermal transfer between the air and the refrigerant.

The recirculating refrigerant may, and generally does, undergo phase changes as part of the process. At appropriate temperature and pressure, the refrigerant can be boiled (vaporized) on the side of the loop where heat is to be extracted, and condensed back to a liquid on the side to which heat is to be released. The phase change process provides a concentrated and substantial transfer of thermal energy.

Although the idea of a heat pump is to carry thermal energy in the refrigerant at a temperature which is useful for heat transfer in a desired direction via heat exchangers, the thermal transfer efficiency across a heat exchanger is a function of difference in temperature. When the outdoor air temperature is low, it may be necessary to supplement the heat energy obtained from the outside air through the heat pump. Electrical resistance heating means or auxiliary fossil fuel burners or the like can be employed for this purpose. Heat pumps are optimally designed for particular ambient air temperature ranges and their efficiency of heating and/or cooling will be impaired if ambient temperatures occur outside of the heat pump design limits. For example, the efficiency of an air-to-air heat pump used for home heating is reduced at low outdoor temperatures and for home cooling is reduced at high outdoor temperatures.

Heat pumps are designed to operate within a range where it is always possible to achieve cooling, although cooling is not very efficient in hot areas where temperatures often exceed 100° F. On the other hand, for heating, at some minimum outdoor air temperature, the lowest temperature the evaporator can provide is so near to the ambient temperature that little if any heat transfer occurs. At this temperature (which varies with the heat pump but may be on the order of -4° C. or 25° F.), the power expended in running the compressor and an outdoor fan is generally greater than the value of the heat energy available from the outdoor air which is necessary to adequately heat the interior air of the building. In such cases, a controller associated with the heat pump, coupled to an outdoor temperature sensor, shifts the heating system to supplement the heat pump with electric resistive or fossil fuel heating when outdoor temperatures approach the minimum temperature limit, and may disable the heat pump entirely when the minimum temperature limit is reached.

Ground source/water source heat exchange healing/cooling systems typically utilize closed loops of tubing buried in the ground or placed in water, such as a lake. These closed loops may be installed in a variety of manners, including horizontal configurations or helical loops, as well as in vertical configurations usually consisting of elongated U-shaped tubes placed into holes drilled into the earth. These heat exchange loops may carry a water/anti-freeze mixture in a water source system, or a refrigerant in a direct expansion system.

Both water source systems and direct expansion systems utilize naturally occurring geothermal heat as a heat source in the winter and as a heat sink in the summer. In a water source system, water is either taken from, or circulated in, the ground, via coupled plastic tubing and a water pump, so as to effect a thermal heat exchange between the ground and the water. The water is then used to effect a thermal heat exchange with refrigerant in a heat pump system, which refrigerant is utilized to transfer heat to or from interior air, depending on operation in either the heating or cooling mode.

In a direct expansion system, the refrigerant in a heat pump system is circulated directly in the ground, typically via coupled copper tubing, so as to effect a thermal heat exchange with the earth, all absent the additional water heat exchange step inherent with a water source system, and absent the necessity to operate a water pump. The geothermally heated or cooled refrigerant is then utilized by the heat pump system to transfer heat to or from interior air. As a result of the elimination of a heat transfer step, and the elimination of a water pump, direct expansion systems are usually more efficient than water source systems.

Three function heat pump system

The invention relates to a three-function heat pump system which provides space heating, space cooling and hot water. The system permits hot water production all year long without operation of the system in the heating or cooling modes. To this end, the system employs a large storage tank and a relatively smaller hot water tank.

A heat exchanger within the hot water tank is sized sufficiently to permit the hot water heat exchanger to function as a system condenser, thereby permitting the refrigerant to bypass the large storage tank. The system is packaged in a compact unit in which the compressor of the system is located within an insulated container with the domestic hot water tank. The crankcase of the compressor therefore remains warm to prevent migration of the refrigerant to the compressor during off seasons. The location of the compressor adjacent to the hot water tank eliminates the need for less energy efficient resistance crankcase heaters.

Nevertheless, the prior art systems fail to provide a system which is capable of hot water production all year long. The known systems only produce hot water when the system is operating in the heating or cooling mode using a desuperheater.

In addition, the components of the prior art systems are not arranged for efficient operation. For example, conventional systems have resistance crankcase heaters which operate continuously to warm the compressor so that liquid refrigerant doesnot migrate into the compressor during off-cycles. Crankcase heater operation has a negative energy impact, particularly in mild climates. Interconnection and assembly of the components of the prior art systems are also cumbersome and time consumingfor installation in the field.

It is an object of the invention to obviate the disadvantages of the known systems by providing a three function heat pump system which generates domestic hot water all year long without requiring operation in a heating or cooling mode.

Another object of the invention is to provide a three function heat pump system which produces domestic hot water all year long by employing dual condensers that are connected in series or one at a time.

It is another object of the invention to provide a three function heat pump system having an arrangement of components which increases energy efficiency by eliminating the need for crankcase heaters.

It is a further object of the invention to provide a three function heat pump system which packages the components efficiently to conserve space and eliminate connections thereby facilitating rapid installation in the field.

An additional object of the invention is to provide a three function heat pump system which employs storage to facilitate heat pump operation under the most favorable available outdoor weather conditions.

These and other objects, advantages and features are provided by the three function heat pump system in accordance with the invention. The system includes a compressor for compressing the refrigerant into a high pressure, high temperaturerefrigerant. The refrigerant flows within a reversible flow conduit which provides series communication between a first heat exchanger located within a first reservoir and an external environment heat exchanger. A throttle means is located between thefirst heat exchanger and the external environment heat exchanger to reduce the pressure of the refrigerant.

A variety of control systems may be used to govern the three function heat pump system. For example, the unit will find applications in climates where both heating and cooling are required. Further, energy savings can be obtained in areas whereelectric utilities offer "time of day" rates. Such time of day rates require a higher charge for electricity during periods of peak use which generally correspond to times of warmest and coldest weather, and normal business hours. With the threefunction heat pump system in accordance with the presently claimed invention, the thermal storage allows electricity to be used by the heat pump during off peak hours. The building may extract heated or cooled water from the storage tank during peakhours for heating and cooling without substantial use of electricity.

In a preferred embodiment, the control system for the three function heat pump unit employs a microprocessor-based control system which is programmed to cause heat pump operation at the most favorable times with respect to outdoor conditions andutility rates. The control includes a time clock with a battery backup, temperature sensors for outdoor temperature, storage temperature, outdoor coil defrost and domestic water conditions, and a plug-in port for field diagnostics and reprogramming.

Heat pump system

Heat pump system adapted to use a non-azeotropic refrigerant mixture preferably containing a high boiling temperature refrigerant as a primary component thereof is given an improved heat transfer efficiency and its pressure loss is minimized by arranging a refrigerant extracting means for removing the refrigerant stagnating in the system in an unfavorable state, in a vapor state in a condenser or in liquid state in an evaporator and returning the removed refrigerant into a refrigerant circulating passage of the system; and by constructing an evaporator of a flooded type at least at a portion adjacent to a refrigerant outlet portion of the evaporator.

Recently, utilization of non-azeotropic refrigerant mixtures has been introduced in order to improve the coefficient of performance (COP) of heat pumps. In cases where a non-azeotropic refrigerant mixture is used in a heat pump, a counter-flow type evaporator has usually been employed so as to make the best use of the characteristics of the non-azeotropic mixture. Also, as the non-azeotropic mixture, a mixture containing a relatively larger molar fraction of a low boiling temperature refrigerant than that of a high boiling temperature refrigerant has been used.

However, in certain cases, such as a heat pump system employing, for example, a centrifugal-compressor, it is preferable to use a refrigerant having a certain degree of specific volume and therefore, it has been desired to use a refrigerant mixture containing a high boiling temperature refrigerant as a primary component. However, if a non-azeotropic mixture containing a larger molar fraction of a high boiling temperature refrigerant is used in a heat pump system, a high speed flow of a refrigerant vapor having a large specific volume is induced in the evaporator causing a pressure loss which leads to a power loss.

Also, use of a non-azeotropic refrigerant mixture naturally causes difference in respect of vaporization of the respective components as a result of which a certain component of the refrigerant mixture may stagnate within the system which may reduce the efficiency of the system.

More particularly, in an evaporator, a mixture in liquid state containing a relatively high percentage of a high temperature boiling refrigerant is likely to stay at an outlet portion of the evaporator so that heat transfer in the evaporator is impeded compared to the case where a single refrigerant is used. Or, in a condenser, an uncondensed refrigerant mixture which is rich in respect of a low boiling temperature component is likely to stay at a portion adjacent to a refrigerant outlet, thus reducing heat transfer efficiency.

Accordingly, there has been a demand for a heat pump system wherein a non-azeotropic refrigerant is effectively utilized.

As to the term "a flooded type at least at a portion adjacent to an outlet", this refers to an evaporator structure in which flow directions of a heat source fluid and a heat sink fluid are not counter to each other and an evaporated vapor i able to flow upwards at that portion. The nature of the flooded type evaporator will be further clarified later in connection with the accompanying drawings.

The above and further objects and advantages of the present invention will be made clear when the detailed description of the invention is reviewed referring to the accompanying drawings, the brief explanation of which follows hereunder.

The term "heat pump" or "heat pump system" used throughout the present specification and claims is meant to identify a system generally comprising a compressor, a condenser, a throttle valve or a pressure reduction means, an evaporator and a refrigerant circulating passage for coupling the above elements to conduct the refrigerant through the system and such heat pump system is to be broadly interpreted to cover a heat pump system effecting a heat pump cycle not only for warming a fluid but also for cooling a fluid.

7 tips on Weatherstripping

Weatherstripping in preparation for the winter will save you $$ in the cold season. Knowing how to conserve energy can help lower your energy bills and balance your household budget. Weatherstripping is applied at joints where two surfaces meet and move relative to each other, such as windows and doors. Properly installed weatherstripping provides an air-tight seal around doors and windows. Tests show that tubular weatherstripping provides the best seal. However, if doors and windows will be used by children, handicapped or elderly, use silicone, neoprene, urethane or rubber strips-they require less pressure when closing doors and windows.

  1. Hold a feather or a burning incense stick in front of a window. You’ll have most decisive results if you do this check on a cool, windy fall day, or a very cold winter day. Have all exhaust fans, the furnace and clothes dryer running while you perform this check. If the feather or smoke moves away from the window, you have a leak and should weatherize. Use caulking and weather stripping around doors and windows to seal cracks and leaks. See your local PRO Hardware for weatherstripping materials and easy how-to tips. Select the appropriate material for your project following the guidelines below.
  2. Use quality weather-stripping. Poor quality materials won’t last long at heavy traffic doors.
  3. Self Stick Foam only requires a knife or shears and a tape measure. It is extremely easy to install and invisible when installed, but not very durable. To install, stick foam to inside face of jamb.
  4. Rolled Vinyl with Aluminum channel backing requires a hammer, nails, metal snips and a tape measure. It is easy to install, visible when installed, and durable.
  5. Foam Rubber with Wood Backing requires a hammer, nails, hand saw, and tape measure. It is easy to install, visible when installed, but not very durable. Installation is simple-you nail the Weather strip snugly against the closed door, spacing nails 8 to 12 inches apart.
  6. Spring Metal requires sheet metal snips, hammer, nails, and a tape measure. It is not difficult to install. It is invisible when installed and extremely durable. To install, simply cut to length and tack in place. Then lift outer edge of strip with screwdriver after tacking for a tighter seal. Note: This is harder than the preceeding choices, as door frame tolerances vary.
  7. Interlocking metal channels require a hack saw, hammer, nails and tape measure. It is difficult to install because alignment is critical. Visible when installed, metal channels are durable but subject to damage because they’re exposed. They do offer an excellent seal. You cut and fit Weather strip to head of door first: male strip on door, female on head; then hinge side of door: male strip on jamb, female on door; finally lock side on door, female on jamb.

Perfect Gaming Tips - YSmenu on the R4

People pretend to install YSmenu on the R4 card for advantages below that YSmenu will bring them.

1. R4 firmware is too outdated. Recently, There are only a few groups that have started working on the r4 firmware, but r4 firmware still looks pale in comparison to the ysmenu firmware.
2. There is the native support of the EZ 3in1 (all current models) so that you don't need to use 3rd party loaders.
3. Ysmenu is actually updated every few weeks or so.
4. YSmenu can delete files, and you don't need to take your SD card out of your Nintendo R4 and into your computer only to delete something.

However, you should keep in mind that there are still some r4 clones that ysmenu can not work on. The Nintendo R4 clones that ysmenu can not work on are as follows:

1. R4 Neo.
2. R4 SDHC.
3. R4i Pro Gold.

So you must make sure that your R4 cards are not clone ones before you use YSmenu. Also there will be some problems. For example, if games start loading but then the loading bar freezes? In this case, what you only need is SD For matter Version 2.0.0.3, you can download it from here.

What's more, if you want to your games that take forever to load, you can fix this by downloading the latest infolib.dat file from here. Certain games take forever to load. Many people who don't like this way. They think R4YSAuto is easier. Admittedly, Nintendo R4 is just a shortcut for driving. There are still some other people who hate r4 neo. Although r4 neo is very cheap, but it doesn't work well on dsi. To my surprise, most r4 users speak highly of r4 sdhc and r4i pro gold.

LED Lighting Pays Off in the Long Run

The advantages of LED lighting are tremendous. Simply put, LED lights use far less energy and last far longer than a traditional halogen or incandescent light. In addition, LED lights are safer than halogen and incandescent equivalents. Many people are scared off by the current cost of LED lamps, but you must look at the long-term operating cost as well as the other advantages that LED provides over traditional lighting.

LED lights require far less energy and the bulbs last far longer than an equivalent halogen light. LED lighting also burns at a far cooler temperature than a halogen light, making them a much safer option. You don’t want to touch the base of an LED, but the glass stays relatively cool. By contrast, a halogen light operates at a very high temperature and can burn you or cause a fire. All of that heat used by the halogen lamp is inefficient. The halogen light emits 90% of its energy as heat and only 10% is used for lighting.

The biggest problem with LED lighting is the cost. When compared to an equivalent halogen, the LED light costs around 5 times as much up front. The upfront cost is only the beginning. Remember that an LED light equivalent to a 35 watt halogen will only consume around 4 watts of power. In addition, an LED light will last up to 25 times longer than a halogen light. Most people would willingly pay 5 times as much for a light that uses less than 1/8 the power and lasts 25 times longer.

When you add it all up, it is clear that LED lighting is the wave of the future, especially as prices continue to drop. Replace your old halogen lights with energy efficient and long lasting LED lighting. Your investment will pay off in the long run.

these indicators autoclave has visible temperature sensors

Autoclave was first invented by French Microbioligist Charles Chamberland in 1879 who worked alongside Louis Pastuer who invented the Patuerisation process.

The basic function of an autoclave machine is to pressurise aqueous solutions and heat them above their boiling point which will cause the solution to be sterilised as well as anything in the solution.

In order to create sterilisation using water you need to be able to heat water past its normal boiling point. Under regular conditions water is not able to be heated above 100degrees Celcius. Further heating will not cause the liquid to rise in temperature it simply boils the water.

The solution to heating water beyond its normal boiling point is to heat it in a sealed container. This happens because the pressure within the sealed container increases as the water heats up, causing the waters boiling point to increase due to the amount of energy needed to form steam increasing.

Because air is very poor at steralising it needs to be removed from the autoclave chamber first. Different autoclaves remove air using different methods. Some autoclaves use a vacuum pump to remove the air from the sterilisation chamber, while others use a series of pressurisation and depressurisation of the central chamber to create airlessness.

Many different industries have uses for autoclaves this includes: medicine, dentistry, science, podiatry and body piercing.

When an autoclave is used for medical purposes the idea is to sterilise reusable equipment so that bacteria, viruses and fungi are destroyed. However protein prions like those associated with CJD are able to withstand the usual 121 degree temperature and can still be active when. To kill protein prions a longer cycle and higher temperature is used (134 degrees Celcius).

Due to the humid hot environment that is created in an autoclave medical instruments made out of some forms of plastic cannot be sterilised, but many small medical instruments are now single use which eliminates this problem.

2 common brands of small worktop autoclave found in many dental surgeries and labs across the world are Prestige medical autoclaves and enigma autoclaves. In general there are 3 methods that can be used to ensure that an autoclave has reached the correct heating temperature within the chamber and therefore sterilisation has taken place.

Some medical packaging has a chemical indicator on it that changes colour once sterilisation has occurred within the packaging. In some autoclaves an alloy is present that will melt once the correct temperature has been reached and in others a pH sensitive chemical is present which will change colour once the required conditions have been met.

In addition to these indicators autoclaves have visible temperature sensors, pressure gauges and times on the outside of the machine.

Vintage Enamel ware Takes Us Back

Enamel Ware is a trip down memory lane. White jugs with blue trim and laundry tubs with red trim all bring us back to a simpler time. It’s a part of the farmhouse country look.

What: Vintage items made of enamelware include ladles, coffeepots, jugs, strainers, jelly moulds, measuring jugs, bread tins, sauce pans, laundry tubs, chamber pots, garbage cans, canisters and trays. There is also a large supply of reproductions of these items available. Look for reproduction laundry tins, canisters and bread tins from major retailers.

History: The Egyptians and Chinese treated enamelling as decorative art. It was only during the 18th century that the Swiss and Germans began to use Nonstick Cookware to cover cooking utensils. By the middle of the 19th century, companies in the United States and Europe were producing enamelled kitchenware.

Process: Long before Teflon and other protective finishes, enamelling was the hot new thing. Prior to enamelling, food was cooked in non-porous, glazed stoneware that was better suited to baking. To cook foods at high temperature the cookware needed to be made of iron. Coating iron with a porcelain enamel created an easy to clean, sanitary and chemical resistant surface. This was a great technological advance.

Colours: A lot of Nonstick Cookware is white and is often trimmed with blue, black or red. Some enamel can be found in red, yellow, blue, orange and brown. Part of the charm of these vintage collectibles is their bright colours.

Use: Enamelware is used today for display and the tins, tubs and trays are still used for their intended purposes of storage or serving.

Condition: Vintage enamelware is likely to have glaze or hairline cracks and chips. Not to worry though because collectors expect to find chips. Items without chips are harder to find.

Original Labels: Original paper labels still intact increase the value of enamelware, as they help verify authenticity.

Price: Starting at $5 for certain items and they are still plentiful.

Sources: Garage sales, flea markets, antique fairs, EBay.

Care: Hand wash Enamel Ware in hot soapy water. Avoid very hot burners, abrasive pads and cleaners.

LED GU10 Bulb will replace light bulbs

According to foreign media reports, the University of California, a scientist said this week that light-emitting diode (LED GU10 Bulb) will replace the bulbs in the next few years, which will save a lot of lighting energy consumption.

LED GU10 Bulb costs are sharply

Made the prediction is that the University of California Santa Barbara scientists Falls, he was

Professor of school materials. Dengbaersi professor last week at a forum on semiconductor nanotechnology, said consumers and businesses can purchase the same day to replace the traditional light-emitting diode 60 watt bulb, but the biggest advantage is that LED life of up to 100,000 hours, far longer than bulb.

Dengbaersi professor also pointed out that the equivalent of 60-watt LED GU10 Bulb is the price is 60 dollars, it is hard to spread, but the price is half the rate of annual decline in two years, for the price of LED lighting will reach 20 U.S. dollars.

Will become the big power of the Gospel

According to him, if it is 20 dollars, the savings in electricity within a year will buy back the investment diode. Among them, those who consume large light-emitting diodes, such as warehouses and shopping malls the most meaningful, the future of home use will also be very economic.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy’s statistics, 22% of U.S. electricity consumption for lighting, even worse, the current energy efficiency light bulb is very low, only 5% of its energy into light, the rest into heat. Dengbaersi professor said that if the United States a quarter of the light bulb changed to “150 lumens per watt” light emitting diode, the United States to 2025 will be able to save about 115 billion U.S. dollars in power consumption. This is equivalent to 133 new power plant, at the same time, the number of carbon dioxide emissions to the atmosphere will be reduced by 258 tons. Dengbaersi that these energy saving and pollution reduction of the number of times and won three world figures.

Current LED technology is rapidly developing, Dengbaersi where the University of California has developed a “117 lumens per watt” light-emitting diode, another Japanese company even developed a “130 lumens per watt” light-emitting diodes.

Little Knowledge: light effect

The luminous efficiency luminous efficiency, is a light source and the luminous flux emitted by electric power consumption ratio. The number of lumens per watt available that (luminous flux: is the light source in unit time the amount of light emitted, which is a measure of the importance of light intensity indicator, with a lumen that).

Background: light-emitting diodes

LED was invented in the 20th century, 60s, in the next few years, its basic purpose is to tape recorders and other electronic devices as indicator. To maximize the potential of LED lighting, recently, scientists have developed a new type of light-emitting diodes for lighting lamps. This lamp has high efficiency, long life characteristics, could be used for 100,000 hours, longer than ordinary incandescent bulbs 100 times. A long time, why not LEDs used for lighting, mainly because usually only red LED light or yellow light, in order to obtain white light, also can be issued to produce LED MR16 Bulb. In this way, red, yellow, and blue light “mixed”, the on to produce white light. Now, the nagging problem was finally resolved. Researchers have identified a new type of semiconductor material — GaN, it can be properly treated are blue.

Advantages and disadvantages: high cost of long life but

LED MR16 Bulb have many advantages. One of them is long life, the current white light could be used for 6 years, about 60 watts to 50 times the normal light bulb, the most suitable for easy replacement of lights outside the building, swimming pool lights, or use the hotel accommodation; Another advantage is that rugged, light-emitting diodes installed in the aircraft or vehicle crashworthiness are able to.

High cost, poor-resolution, color space direction is poor, it is difficult to form a high intensity light source, can not replace the current high intensity discharge lamps.

How To Use R4 Card And What Are They?

Nintendo R4 are adapters that are used with handheld devices that they are compatible with. They allow your device to operate with a larger memory thus creating more features for you to use such as a video player, MP3 player, web browser, word processor, as well as allowing you to store pictures and videos and play games. There are two main types of R4 card; the standard R4 memory card and the R4i card. The R4 card works with the Nintendo R4 and the R4i card works with the Nintendo DSi device.

There are also further variations of R4 memory cards such as the R4DS Upgrade-II, R4 Advance, R4DS III, New R4, R4 Deluxe, R4 Pro, R4 SDHC and R4 Ultra. These all work in the same way and are still R4 memory cards, with the difference being they have different names.

The R4 Card memory fits into the slot in your Nintendo DS device, where the standard Nintendo card normally goes. The R4 card is exactly the same size as the original Nintendo card. The R4 adapter will accept Micro SD cards up to 16GB though this will depend on which version you have.

The R4i card which is compatible with the Nintendo DS can hold on average anything from 1 to 60 games at one time. This of course depends on the size of the game but these devices must only be used to back up games you have purchased and hold a legal license for.

The beauty and benefit of having an R4 card is that it allows you to have access to a video player, MP3 player, web browser and games, all at one time. You can also back up your games, pictures, music and videos on the Micro SD card meaning your device becomes super portable and is a great gadget to take away on holiday for example.

There is a slight difference to the two versions of the basic R4 memory cards. The first version of the R4 card was created with a spring loaded into the Micro SD slot. These springs were subsequently removed from the Micro SD slot after they were found to be unreliable and so the R4 card version 2 was launched. The above mentioned variations of the R4 memory cards all work in the same manner except some have a much larger memory and so can hold more data. These do however, require the use of different software.

Moby Memory is a specialist retailer of R4 card, micro SD cards products, selected, tested and certified for use with the newly emerging generation of "smart" mobile phones.

Traditions of the Czar – Russian Silver and Enamel Ware

The art and culture of Russian has been far superior to most countries when it comes to working with Enamel Ware and silver work. The specialized and intricate Russian silver with Nonstick Cookwarel was a special craft that was brought about in medieval Russia and propagated by one of the finest craftsman in the world-Peter Carl Faberge, who during the 19th century provided the Russian Czar with world famous Easter Eggs that are known to us as Faberge eggs. He was the one to innovate an amazing new technique of using enamel in layers to shape it up like an egg and then did exquisite filigree work with precious metals and studded it with diamonds or other precious stones.

The most diverse variety of Nonstick Cookware and silver work has been produced during the 18th and 19th century in Russia, which not only is considered amongst priceless antiques, but has attained a lot of demand world over. Enamel layering over silver is used in decorative items, utilitarian items such as beakers, glasses, spoons, jewelry such as bracelets, necklaces amongst other knick knacks. Some of the other variety of techniques that utilized silver includes filigree work done creatively with fine silver wire, by molding it with care. Many delicate silver bracelets and other pieces of jewelry still exist of past eras and more are being created by craftsmen trained in this highly creative art.

Artists and craftsmen use a copper base that is called ‘finift’ on the base and over it few layers of powdered Enamel Ware is compressed before being fired. This process is repeated according to the design and colors and then gemstones are inserted to be studded on the top layer. Silver is used to fill in the multi colored designs and get it that perfect finish. Numerous artifacts and precious handicrafts are in demand all over the world with its exquisite beauty alluring the world over.

There are some places in Russia like the town of Rostov, famous for its production of silver and enamel ware. The craftsmen of this particular town have been engaged for centuries, generation after generation doing this intricate work of crafting miniatures and other decorative pieces. The theme of celebration and traditional designs are the mainstay of the Rostov lines. While landscapes, portraits and other works have also been created in Rostov, the traditional art of Russian silver and Enamel Ware continues to entice and enchant people all over the world.

Energy Savers: Weather strip And Weatherstripping

You can use weatherstripping in your home to seal air leaks around movable joints, such as windows or doors.

To determine how much weatherstripping you will need, add the perimeters of all windows and doors to be weatherstripped, then add 5%–10% to accommodate any waste. Also consider that weatherstripping comes in varying depths and widths.

Before applying weatherstripping in an existing home, you need to do the following (if you haven’t already):

Detect air leaks
Assess your ventilation needs for indoor air quality.
Selection
Choose a type of weatherstripping that will withstand the friction, weather, temperature changes, and wear and tear associated with its location. For example, when applied to a door bottom or threshold, weatherstripping could drag on carpet or erode as a result of foot traffic. Weatherstripping in a window sash must accommodate the sliding of panes—up and down, sideways, or out. The weatherstripping you choose should seal well when the door or window is closed while allowing it to open freely.

Choose a product for each specific location. Felt and open-cell foams tend to be inexpensive, susceptible to weather, visible, and inefficient at blocking airflow. However, the ease of applying these materials may make them valuable in low-traffic areas. Vinyl, which is slightly more expensive, holds up well and resists moisture. Metals (bronze, copper, stainless steel, and aluminum) last for years and are affordable. Metal weatherstripping can also provide a nice touch to older homes where vinyl might seem out of place.

You can use more than one type of weatherstripping to seal an irregularly shaped space. Also take durability into account when comparing costs. See Table 1 below for information about the common types of weatherstripping.

Application
Weatherstripping supplies and techniques range from simple to the technical. Consult the instructions on the weatherstripping package. Here are a few basic guidelines:

Weatherstripping should be applied to clean, dry surfaces in temperatures above 20°F (-7° C).
Measure the area to be weatherstripped twice before you cut anything.
Apply weatherstripping snugly against both surfaces. The material should compress when the window or door is shut.
When weatherstripping doors:

Choose the appropriate door sweeps and thresholds for the bottom of the doors.
Weatherstrip the entire door jamb.
Apply one continuous strip along each side.
Make sure the weatherstripping meets tightly at the corners.
Use a thickness that causes the weatherstripping to tightly press between the door and the door jamb when the door closes, without making it difficult to shut.
For air sealing windows, apply Weather strip between the sash and the frame. The Weather strip shouldn’t interfere with the operation of the window.

Healthy Nonstick Cookware and Enamel Ware

There are potential risks in some Nonstick Cookware materials. Aluminum and Teflon-lined pots, pans and bakeware are safest when kept in good condition and used properly. Stainless steel, enameled or well-seasoned cast iron and porcelain cookware are best.

Aluminum

Plain aluminum Nonstick Cookware is low-cost, light-weight, and thermally responsive – but aluminum is reactive. Foods cooked in aluminum can react with the metal to form aluminum salts associated with impaired visual motor coordination and Alzheimer’s disease; however there is no definite link proven. More than half of all cookware sold today is made of aluminum.

Suggestions:

  • Keep aluminum cookware on good condition – When cooking with aluminum pots, the more pitted and worn out the pot, the greater amount of aluminum will be absorbed.
  • Minimize food storage time in aluminum – The longer food is cooked or stored in aluminum, the greater the amount that gets into food.
  • Avoid cooking highly acidic foods in aluminum – Aluminum cookware manufacturers warn that storing highly acidic or salty foods such as tomato sauce, rhubarb, or sauerkraut in aluminum pots may cause more aluminum than usual to enter the food.

Anodized aluminum

Anondized aluminum has been treated to develop an aluminum oxide (extremely hard and non-reactive) coating on the surface of the cookware. Commercial Aluminum Company, the manufacturer of Calphalon, a best-selling brand of anodized aluminum cookware, claims that a final stage in the anodization process seals the aluminum, preventing any leaching into food. Anodized aluminum cookware doesn’t react to acidic foods, so these pots and pans are good choices for cooking rhubarb and sauces with tomato, wine, and lemon juice.

Stainless steel

Mixing steel with chromium and nickel (18/8 stainless steel is 18% chromium and 8% nickel while 18/10 has 10% nickel) produces a corrosion resistant steel that is both hard wearing and easy to clean. Stainless steel cookware is considered one of the best and safest choices in cookware.

Suggestion:

Avoid using abrasive materials when cleaning stainless steel Nonstick Cookware – Stainless steel cookware can become a problem if an abrasive material is used frequently to clean it thereby releasing small amounts of chromium and nickel. Nickel is not poisonous in small quantities but it can cause an allergic reaction. People with nickel allergies should avoid cooking with stainless steel cookware.

Copper with stainless steel lining

Copper exterior requires more care but imparts the utensil with copper’s excellent thermal properties. Stainless steel/copper cookware is considered among the best and safest choices in cookware.

Copper

Copper pans are often coated with another metal that prevents the Enamel Ware copper from coming into contact with food. Small amounts of the coating can be dissolved by food, especially acidic food, when cooked or stored for long periods.

Suggestions:

  • Not for people with nickel allergies – Nickel is one of the metals used in coating, so anyone allergic to nickel should avoid nickel-coated cookware.
  • Avoid abrasive materials when cleaning – Coated copper Enamel Ware can lose its protective layer if scoured.
  • Avoid uncoated copperware – Don’t use badly scratched or uncoated copper cookware to cook or store food.

Recent News on Russian Silver and Enamel Ware

Silver artworks of the Russian culture have been traced as far back as the Vladimir time period, between the years of 956 AD and 1015 AD. It is believed that the hallmarking of each silver piece became a Nonstick Cookware mandatory rule around the year of 1700. It is this requirement that so greatly expanded the silversmith artistic importance of the industry with the two Russian cities of St. Petersburg and Moscow being the most famous for silversmith artworks.

The magnificent Nonstick Cookware silver artworks that have made Russia and the silver Russian society did not only belong only to the Russian continent, but truly all over the world. One of the many wonderful examples of the wide spread silver artworks has been the archaeological discovery within the Vallejo Valley, California part of the United States that can be referred to as the Vallejo spoons discovery.

The archaeological findings within the Northern California area is the a physical reflection of the European Russian artworks that had been formally due to the Peter the Great Reforms which happened in the later part of the 17th Century. These three silver Russian made spoons were crafted in around the year of 1834, and had found their way into America via the Russian and European cultural integration, along with the wider open market worldly trading systems.

These referenced trading systems dealt with the physical materials, but heirlooms moved around with individuals as they migrated all over the world, amalgamating and taking with them, their various cultural heritages. Just as these three Russian silver spoons came along, so did a wide variety of Russian silver and Enamel Ware works of art would make the way around the many different cultures and continents throughout time.

When looking at the fine Russian silver details that make up these three spoons the details are very strong and little differences between them. All of the three spoons are crafted with fiddle-ends that are down turned, and the Enamel Ware shoulders of the spoons contain points that form drops that are tapered-pointed. Upon a wide area of the handles, these spoons contain very highly detailed designs of double cornucopias.

These three Russian silver spoons have monograms, but they are quite undecipherable due to the hand held positioning during usage. All three of these spoons were discovered and have dented bowls at the eating end, this is a very strong indication of extensive usage of the spoons such as on a daily basis, instead of them being only a very special occasion type of Russian silver utensil.

Want to know how i Accidental Invention Points to End of LED GU10 Bulb?

The main light source of the future will almost surely not be a bulb. It might be a table, a wall, or even a fork.
An accidental discovery announced this week has taken LED GU10 Bulb to a new level, suggesting it could soon offer a cheaper, longer-lasting alternative to the traditional light bulb. The miniature breakthrough adds to a growing trend that is likely to eventually make Thomas Edison's bright invention obsolete.
Michael Bowers, a graduate student at Vanderbilt University, was just trying to make really small quantum dots, which are crystals generally only a few nanometers big. That's less than 1/1000th the width of a human hair.
Quantum dots contain anywhere from 100 to 1,000 electrons. They're easily excited bundles of energy, and the smaller they are, the more excited they get.
When you shine a light on quantum dots or apply electricity to them, they react by producing their own light, normally a bright, vibrant color. But when Bowers shined a laser on his batch of dots, something unexpected happened.
"I was surprised when a white glow covered the table," Bowers said. "The quantum dots were supposed to emit blue light, but instead they were giving off a beautiful white glow."
Then Bowers and another student got the idea to stir the dots into polyurethane and coat a blue LED light bulb with the mix. The lumpy bulb wasn't pretty, but it produced white light similar to a regular LED GU10 Bulb.
LEDs are already used in traffic lights, flashlights, and architectural lighting. They are flexible and operate less expensively than traditional lighting.
Until the last decade, LEDs could only produce green, red, and yellow light, which limited their use. Then came blue LEDs, which have since been altered to emit white light with a light-blue hue.
LEDs produce twice as much light as a regular 60 watt bulb and burn for over 50,000 hours. The Department of Energy estimates LED GU10 Bulb could reduce U.S. energy consumption for lighting by 29 percent by 2025. LEDs don't emit heat, so they're also more energy efficient. And they're much harder to break.
Other scientists have said they expect LED MR16 Bulb to eventually replace standard incandescent bulbs as well as fluorescent and sodium vapor lights.
If the new process can be developed into commercial production, light won't come just from newfangled bulbs. Quantum dot mixtures could be painted on just about anything and electrically excited to produce a rainbow of colors, including white.

Review: Circulon Elite 12-Inch Nonstick Hard-Anodized Round Griddle

It’s Saturday morning and the family wants pancakes. They want them hot and now, but you’re using a normal sized skillet or griddle and just can’t seem to cook them fast enough. It’s time for an upgrade to the Circulon Elite 12-Inch nonstick cookware Hard-Anodized Round Griddle.

This griddle will let you save time by being able to get a lot more cooking on the surface as soon as you pop it on the stove.

In addition to adding a lot of cooking space, the inventors of this one thought about the problems with traditional flat griddles, runoff. If you are cooking sausage on a normal griddle, it will run off the edge, but not this time. This griddle has a slight raised edge that will keep any oil, butter, grease or other liquids inside and off of your stove and burners.

The construction of this pan is going to be just what you want on the stovetop – a nonstick surface that will keep you from getting frustrated while you try to get a meal on the table and a handle that is oven safe (in case you need to keep the food warm while waiting for the family to gather) as well as a handle made with a slip-free material that will help you keep a grip on the pan.

Features of the Circulon Elite 12-Inch Nonstick Hard-Anodized Round Griddle:

  • It is made of hard-anodized aluminum for fast, even heating
  • Circulon-exclusive advanced nonstick formula total food-release system
  • Riveted 18/10 stainless-steel handle with Comfort Grip insert which  ensures slip-free grasp
  • The griddle is oven safe to 400 degrees F
  • It measures approximately 12 x 20 x 2 inches
  • Hand wash with a mild cleanser
  • limited lifetime warrant

What We Like:

  • The pan has a great nonstick cookware surface so the items you cook will come out easily and look great!
  • This is the perfect griddle for more delicate cooking of foods like crepes
  • It heats evenly so you know the enamel ware items on the griddle are going to cook at the right speed.
  • It’s large enough to be able to make more at a time, which is great if you have a larger family to feed.
  • It’s very easy to wipe up and clean after use.

What We Don’t Like:

  • Because of the enamel ware surface, it has to be hand washed.

Experts in high autoclave pressure vessel manufacture

Our US partner Autoclave Engineers have yet again proven themselves to be leading the world in the design and manufacture of high pressure equipment.

Terms such as "experts", "leading the world" and even "high pressure" are often used in marketing speak without really much substance, so let me back up my statement with a couple of bits of information:

  • Autoclave Engineers have been in this business of designing and manufacturing high pressure vessels, stirred reactors, VFT and other pieces of equipment since the 1940s and have never had a failure!  They have been certified to the highest levels of the PED (pressure equipment directive - law in the EU for the supply of pressure vessels), ASME and other pressure equipment legislation.
  • A good example which illustrates their high levels of competence perfectly is one of their latest vessels.  This was to meet a requirement for a company supplying components for oilfields - they needed to test the components at high pressures and raised temperatures to check their performance before they were used in the field where those conditions would be experienced.   The vessel supplied was required to be operated at 40,000 PSI and 260degC, and due to the size of the components to be tested the vessel had to be 45 feet long and 15" ID - so a large high pressure system indeed.  The below pictures show the vessel being moved by crane lift and also the pressure gauges during the testing cycles (yes that's 60,000PSI they're being tested at!! Really shows the safety margins factored in).

So when it comes to high pressure vessels - Autoclave Engineers really are experts and leading the world.  If you'd like any further information please don't hesitate to contact us (Merrow Scientific are the UK partner for Autoclave Engineers' vessels and reactors) or look at our pressure vessel page.

How to Choose the Best Nonstick Cookware Sets

Cooking on a nonstick cookware set is an absolute pleasure. They are very easy to clean and your food does not stick while cooking. There are many different nonstick cookware sets available on the market today. It can be very difficult to choose between them. It really depends on how you plan on using it and the amount of cooking that you do. There are also other considerations when using nonstick pots and pans they must be aware of.

First you must determine how much you'll be using your cookware. If you use your pots and pans very often it is a good idea to invest in a larger set. Many of the high quality enamel ware sets last a very long time if they are properly taking care of. While they can seem a little expensive the investment is very well worth it. Many of the larger sets come with multiple sizes of different saucepans, skillets and larger pots. This is good for when you're cooking larger meals that require multiple things to be cooking the same time.

If you do not use your cookware set that often in a smaller nonstick cookware set may be for is also possible to just purchase a few different pieces that you will use most often. You may just need one saucepan and one skillet. This is also a good idea if you're on a tighter budget.

It is a very good idea to use silicone or plastic utensils with your enamel ware. Sometimes the nonstick finish on the cookware can be stressed are damaged by the use of metal utensils. This will cause the pots and pans to no longer have their nonstick qualities. It's also possible that some of the finish to come off into your food. It is always a good idea to do as much research as possible before you made a purchase.

Wireline Pressure Control Cable Equipment

Wireline pressure control equipment can be available in two basic flavours: they can be part of a standardised range of wireline pressure Control Cable equipment products, or they can be specially designed and made to fit in exactly with a customer's requirements.

The equipment appears in a wide range of sizes, typically from two and a half inches inside diameter to nine inches inside diameter. The products can range from the very simple to the highly complex, depending on their specific use and function.

It is necessary for wireline pressure control equipment to be designed and produced so that it is able to withstand excessive pressures and resist excessive corrosion within the well. Pressures may be as high as 15,000 pounds per square inch, or even higher. Temperatures can also fluctuate and can be found in extreme ranges. Wireline pressure Control Cable equipment must be manufactured to withstand everything that is thrown at it.

In any wireline operation it is necessary to maintain the pressure in the oil well. This is achieved by use of a stuffing box, or packing gland. The stuffing box essentially allows the wireline to move freely up and down within the well, confining the fluids and gases within the wellbore and without losing the pressure inside.

As a primary element of this equipment, the stuffing box has several important tasks to perform. It has to maintain well pressure while allowing braided wire to move freely through it. As the braided wire is not uniform in diameter, this presents a problem that requires special attention.

Packing elements made of rubber form a seal around the wire in the first instance. A wireline valve forming a second barrier seal is also required. If a risk of failure of the stuffing box happens or is suspected, this can be closed around the wire to prevent excessive pressure loss. The wireline valve also requires a grease injection head positioned above it, especially in the case of braided wire, to guarantee a Spark Plug proper and acceptable seal.

A wireline blowout preventer can produce a tight seal around slick line or braided cable. It is positioned between the lubricating assembly and the wellhead. Two opposing horizontal ram assemblies are commonly used to compress an effective tight seal around the wireline. This part of the equipment has the effect of containing and controlling the well pressure.

Apart from the wireline pressure Spark Plug equipment, the pressure inside an oil or gas well is controlled by drilling fluid pressure. Both components work together to provide satisfactory and safe overall pressure control.

The well hole must have enough drilling fluid pressure to overcome the formation pressure, the pressure exerted inside the well by oil, gas and water, for the drilling operation to proceed with safety.

If this is not the case and the formation pressure exceeds the drilling fluid pressure, a blowout is possible. This is where the blowout wireline pressure Control Cable equipment comes into effect, sealing the well and containing the pressure.

The Basic Requirements Of An Autoclave-Sterilizer

A very important section of any medical practise or hospital is what is called the Central Sterilization and Supplies Department or CSSD. In the typical CSSD of a hospital, surgical equipments and bandages and supplies are sterilized and cleansed and ready for re-use. The equipment for sterilization is called an autoclave or commonly called a sterilizer.

A medical autoclave is a device that uses steam to sterilize equipment and other objects.

By sterilizing, all bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores are inactivated.

There are chemical and biological indicators that can be used to ensure an autoclave reached the correct temperature for the correct amount of time.

Chemical indicators can be found on medical packaging and autoclave tape, and these change color once the correct conditions have been met. With the change in color, we have indication that the object inside the package, or under the tape, has been autoclaved sufficiently.

Setting the right temperature is very important, because if the autoclave did not reach the right temperature, the spores of certain bacteriium will germinate. Any surgical instrument which is not properly cleansed and sterilized is extremely dangerous to the patient and this is downright disapproved. Stringent control and adherence to best practice is necessary in any CSSD.

Today, more than ever, with the need for the best health and recovery rates, we need autoclaves and sterilizers that are reliable and simple to use.

A basic manual autoclave that can satisfy all of our common sterilization needs and is perfect for multi-doctor practices, clinics or surgery centers, would feature most if not all of the following features:

1. Required to be a closed door active drying system.

2. 15" x 30" chamber accommodates longer instruments or a large number of small instruments.

3. One touch design for simplicity of operation.

4. Automatically fill, sterilize, exhaust and dries at the touch of a button.

As technology improves and autoclaves are specialized equipment, purchasing the autoclave needs a lot of study and research into what you require, the capacity of the autoclave, digital or analog controls, ease of operation and training to be provided by the vendor.

Kitchen Lighting Using Energy Efficient LED GU10 bulb

Basic lighting design guidelines always describe layering light to achieve your desired effect. For the kitchen, this means combining general ambient lighting with task lighting and accent lighting. Using energy efficient LED MR16 Bulb you can transform the kitchen's aesthetics as well as reduce the monthly energy bill. Using LED (light emitting diode) light bulbs gives you that energy efficiency and bulb options that compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) don't provide.

In order for CFLs to last the life time rating printed on their packaging, they have to be left on at least 15 minutes at a time. If not they will burn out a much quicker rate. CFLs also need this time to warm up to their full brightness. LED light bulbs on the other hand turn on instantly, and do not need to be kept on to keep their full rated run time (which is usually 50,000 hours).

Along with their long life and energy efficiency, LED MR16 Bulb also come in flood and spot light options. CFLs aren't able to produce focused light without relying heavily on the fixture it is placed in to do the light focusing. With more bulb options, it is easier to get the lighting look that you want.

Start with the task areas.

Good kitchen lighting from a functional and decorative aspect incorporates ambient lighting and task lighting. Task lighting is used to light up workspace areas such as the counters, sinks, and tabletops. The lighting should be bright and shadowless with the fixtures mounted close to the task areas. Mounting lights to under the cabinets that sit over the kitchen counter is a great place to put some task lighting. LED options include light bars and flexible LED GU10 Bulb strips that mount flush against the bottom of the cabinet keeping hidden, while providing useful task light, as well as light to enhance the look of stone counter tops.

In the cases where there are no overhead cabinets, such as the kitchen island, hanging pendant lights can be used to bring light close to the work area. As a general guideline, pendant lights should hang approximately 5 feet 6 inches off the floor (based on a 36-inch high kitchen island), and the kitchen dining area light should hang approximately 5 feet 4 inches off the floor or between 30 to 36 inches from the table top. The fixture selected should also be 12 inches narrower than the top of your table. If hanging lights are not possible, then light can be projected from the ceiling using track or recessed lighting.

The most effective light bulbs for track or recessed fixtures are directional lamps that shine in a particular direction. Many of these fixtures use MR16 type bulbs. Find an LED MR16 bulb that produces a flood pattern and one that does not have a hard defined beam pattern otherwise it will cast hard shadows, which would make it a poor choice for a task light, but excellent for accent lighting. PAR30 lights are often used in recessed cans and can be found readily as LED MR16 Bulb.

Ambient Lighting

Once the task lighting has been chosen, it is time to choose the fixtures that will provide the ambient light. Ambient light is the general light that is used for casual activities in the kitchen. It fills in shadows, reduces contrast, and lights vertical surfaces to give a brighter feel. A kitchen with light colored surfaces and lots of windows has a lot of ambient light during the day, but as soon as the sun sets the kitchen must rely on fixtures that produce general lighting.

If your current kitchen uses fluorescent tubes, they can be replaced with tubes of LED bulbs. These LED tubes last much longer. With an average of 50,000 hours, the rated lifetime equates to about 10 years of usage if you calculate it being on 12 hours a day. This is especially great if you often neglect to change your used fluorescent tubes, which consume electricity even when burnt out. Choosing a warmer color temperature somewhere between 3000K and 5000K will produce a nice inviting light.

LED GU10 Bulb sconces are also a great way to add ambient lighting to the kitchen. Mounted to the wall, light is usually directed upwards, but some fixtures shine both up and down. They are generally mounted so that the center of the sconce is 5 feet 6 inches away from the floor. If you have space between the top of your cabinets and the ceiling, LED strips or light bars can be used to bounce light off the ceiling to add more general lighting.

Accent Lighting

Accent lighting is what gives your space that extra dimension. It is used minimally to highlight certain objects in the room adding to the elegance of the space. LED spotlights can be placed to direct light to artwork, architectural details in the kitchen. LED bars or flexible LED strips can be embedded in display cabinets to illuminate fine China, glassware or other collections.

With proper lighting, any old kitchen can be upgraded and transformed into not only a new cooking space, but a central area of the house where casual activities occur. Using LED GU10 Bulb with the upgrade will also benefit the environment and your pocket book.

For more information about LED light bulbs and photos of some kitchen fixtures described in this article, refer to this site.

What is the best nonstick cookware? There are many different manufacturers of this type of carefree cookware. I know you are asking yourself 'How do I pick the right set of cookware that is best for me?' When looking to buy a set of nonstick cookware for your home you need to take into consideration several things. You need to consider how much you are willing to pay for the cookware. You need to consider if you want a full set of cookware or if you just want a piece or two.

A complete set of cookware consists of several pieces. On average most sets of nonstick cookware comes complete with a frying pan and lid, a small pot and lid, a large stew pot and lid and a large skillet with a lid. Most of the lower priced sets of cookware will only include a lid or two which will fit two or more of the cookware pieces to save money. Your more expensive sets will include a lid for each piece. I prefer to have a lid for each piece of cookware I have, it just makes cooking easier in my opinion.

When looking to buy the best nonstick cookware you need to look at the metal it is made of. It is better to buy cookware that is made of heavier grade of metal and a multiple layers. Your best nonstick cookware will be made of several layers of metal. Usually cooper on the outside layer and aluminum on the inside layer. This combination of metals ensures even heat distribution and thorough cooking of your food. On average, the heavier the cookware, the longer it will last you. Which by spending a little more on the heavier cookware will actually save you money in the long run by not having to buy another set of cookware in a couple of months.

Another benefit to consider when buying the best enamel ware is that it is healthier for you. By cooking on nonstick cookware you are not using as much fat or cooking oil. This is best for cooking low fat meals which are healthier for you. So what is the best nonstick cookware to own? The best cookware is made of heavy grade metal with several layers. It should provide an even cooking surface. They should be easy to clean up after cooking and each piece in your enamel ware set should have a separate lid.

Telemark Ski Binding - A Matter of Control Cable

The sport of telemark skiing is an interesting hybrid of cross-country skiing and downhill skiing. Telemark skiers can usually be found on the slopes, heading up the chairlifts and down the Control Cable hills just like downhill skiers. However, the manner in which they come down the hills, and the equipment they use to do so, is much more similar to cross-country skiing. Unlike downhill ski boots, the boots of a telemark skier are attached to the skis only at the toes, just like those of a cross-country skier. It is this manner of binding and the skiing style it dictates that makes telemark skiers so easy to pick out on the slopes.

When a downhill Spark Plug wants to carve a turn, all he or she has to do is exert pressure on the edges of his or her skis. Because downhill ski boots are firmly attached to skis from toe to heel, the skier's energy is easily transferred to the skis. However, making a turn in telemark skis is a little more difficult. As mentioned, telemark ski boots are attached to the skis only at the toes. To turn, the telemark skier must accomplish two things at once: the foot on the downhill ski must remain flat and the leg straight, while foot on the uphill ski must go up on the toes, allowing the skier to bend that leg at the knee. This position allows the skier to effectively transfer his or her energy to the skis and control the turn.

Telemark skiing boots usually feature a "duckbill," an extra piece of plastic at the toes of the boots that interface with the skis' bindings. There are several different kinds of Spark Plug telemark ski bindings, each of which has different characteristics. Three-pin bindings are the most traditional version. Such devices have three pins pointing up from the skis that correspond to holes in the duckbills of telemark skiing boots. The duckbills are simply placed on top of the bindings and then secured in place with a locking mechanism called a "bale." This method is exactly the same as that used by cross-country ski bindings, which allows skiers to cover a wide range of territories.

Cable bindings have spring-loaded cables that hold the boots to the skis. The duckbills of the boots fit into sockets, but unlike three-pin bindings, cable bindings have no pins. The cables of these types of bindings stretch around the Spark Plug heels of the boots. Cable bindings are popular because they restrain the heel better during turns, allowing the skier better control. However, they are heavier and make it more difficult for the skier to flex his or her boots. This means that cable bindings are less suitable for cross-country skiing, as opposed to three-pin bindings.

Lastly, hinged plate bindings actually allow the skier to essentially switch back and forth between traditional and Control Cable bindings. "Free pivot" mode allows the heels of the boots to remain free, mimicking the control level to three-pin bindings. But "downhill mode" increases the cable tension on the boots, keeping them closer to the skis and allowing the skier more Control cable.

What Causes An Autoclave To Fail A Spore Test?

From The Doctor - to the Technicians - to the Patients: Everyone is at risk if the instruments & hand pieces used in your practice are not sterilized properly. It's also the law. To protect everyone, the mandated spore test is a way to ensure that your autoclave is functioning properly and is achieving the desired level of sterilization. HOW IS STERILIZATION CONFIRMED?

After a spore strip is processed in a sterilizer, it is mailed to a monitoring service. In a laboratory setting, the spore strip is aseptically removed from its protective envelope and placed in a tube of culture media. It is then incubated for 7 days. For each of the 7 days, the tube of culture media is inspected for autoclave cloudiness.

If the spores are live and have not been killed, cloudiness is noted in the culture media. If no cloudiness is noted in the culture media, then sterilization is confirmed.

The most common reason for the test to fail is not due to mechanical failure, but is actually due to operator error. If your autoclave has failed the spore test, this is a good time to review your sterilization procedures with your staff. Observe the technician who is responsible for sterilizing the hand pieces and/or instruments and look for the following problem areas:

  • Is the autoclave being overloaded? Refer to the manufacturers specifications and make sure the technician is not putting in too many items at one time.

  • Is the right temperature being achieved and maintained? Inadequate Temperature: Set the temperature control knob so that it reaches and maintains 270-degrees. Check on it periodically during the cycle to make sure this temperature is not fluctuating more than a couple of degrees.

  • Is the right amount of pressure being reached and maintained? Inadequate Pressure: The chamber pressure should be maintaining approximately 30psi (or manufacturer specifications).

  • Is the cycle being allowed to run for the right amount of time? Inadequate Time: The normal processing cycle varies somewhat by the autoclave manufacturer. Follow the manufactures guidelines. Shortening the cycle endangers everyone, so don't.

  • Improper packaging of instruments (follow manufacturers recommendations)

If any of the above shortcuts are being taken because the autoclave cannot keep up with your demand, it is time to either increase your inventory of handpieces and/or instruments, or to get an autoclave that processes them faster A question I am frequently asked is If the Chemical Monitoring is Sufficient?

CHEMICAL MONITORING uses heat sensitive chemicals (not spores) to assess the physical conditions during the sterilization process. Chemical monitoring involves the use of indicators that change color when exposed to certain temperatures. Examples include autoclave tape, special markings on bags and autoclave pouches, and, chemical indicator strips, tabs or packets.

If a chemical indicator changes color, has sterilization taken place?

No... a chemical indicator only assesses the physical conditions (e.g., temperature) present during the cycle. When a sterilizer reaches the required temperature, it causes the chemical indicator to change color; however, it does not indicate how long the temperature was maintained.

Lighting Up Your House With LED GU10 Bulb - Are They Overrated?

More and more homeowners are turning their eyes towards LED bulbs as a technique to save energy. But will you really get the best efficiency by buying this still expensive alternative right away? Or is it better to wait, or to buy other energy-efficient lighting, and use the savings that generates to buy LED GU10 Bulb house lights later?

You have most likely seen LEDs already: camping headlamps, LED Christmas tree lights, wind-up emergency flashlights. How about LED house lights? If LEDs use so little energy, why aren't manufacturers scrambling to sell LED lights for the home, and why aren't consumers scrambling to buy them?

I wouldn't try to sell you on LED lights as a way to address high energy bills or as the most environmentally beneficial lighting solution around. In fact, I think LEDs have a stretch to go yet, in terms of light strength, durability, and price. There are some LED applications you should invest in now, such as LED Christmas lights. And you might enjoy testing out one or two LED GU10 Bulb lights, if you're the energy-saving type. But you are going to do better keeping with your existing lighting, and moving over to fluorescent lighting in the short term. Compact fluorescent lights, or CFLs, will pay for themselves before LEDs have improved enough to make CFLs obsolete.

LEDs are more efficient than incandescent or fluorescent bulbs. But LEDs have very directed light. An incandescent bulb shines over a wide area quite evenly, while LED bulbs are very focused, so that the area they directly illuminate is very bright, while the further you go from the direct beam, the fainter the light. For LED Christmas lights, that isn't an issue; you just want some bright points of light, which LEDs do very efficiently. But an incandescent or CFL will do a much better job of lighting your dining room than an LED bulb in the same fixture. The light will be more evenly and broadly spread, and with a warmer color temperature.

LED house light designers work around the problem of the narrow beam of a light emitting diode, by designing household LED bulbs that are a collection of individual LEDs, with each LED aimed at a different angle, so that a wider area is highly illuminated. This increases the angle of full light provided by an LED light. However very few such bulbs provide the breadth of area coverage of traditional incandescent bulbs or CFLs and at the same time match their total light output.

Where LED lights are an improvement over existing bulbs is as replacements for lighting that is (or should be) highly directed. For example, a light in a narrow hall, where the chief point of the light is to show people their way from one room to another, would be a good use of LEDs.

Task lighting is another area where LEDs are suitable. Why light up your entire workshop if all you need to see is the tools on the work bench right before your eyes? A couple of LED bulbs hanging above the work bench will do the job. But you can only cost-justify this in energy savings if you live half your life in the workroom.

LED lights are, in theory at least, very reliable, when compared to incandescent bulbs and CFLs. LED GU10 Bulb life ranges from 35,000 to 200,000 hours, versus 1,000 hours for an incandescent light, and 8,000 hours for a CFL. But I have seen consumer reviews of LED lights that report burn-out within a few weeks of installation. So there are quality control issues still to be resolved - again, this is a good reason for holding off a year or two before a major conversion to LEDs.

Whether LEDs will really fulfill their long life expectancy remains to be seen - even the 35,000 hour ones would need to be left on 24x7 for 4 years before they come close to reaching their advertised range. And LED lights do dim with age - so while a bulb might have a lifetime of 35,000 hours, that doesn't mean it will emit its starting light level for the full 35,000 hours - the older it gets, the less light it will emit. LED lights do slowly fade in brightness and therefore in efficiency, although they will remain more efficient than either CFLs or incandescent bulbs throughout their life.

The "color temperature" of a light, measured in 'degrees Kelvin', determines how we respond to its light. Most people are used to the yellowish glow of incandescents at around 2800 Kelvin (2800K), even though fluorescent lights are closer to the natural daylight temperature of 6000K. Any LED MR16 Bulb house light with a color temperature of 6000K or higher will seem to appear bluish, and any LED house light with a color temperature over about 4000K will appear whiter than an incandescent.

While people are typically worried about how fluorescent or LED lights can make their rooms look hospital- white instead of the comforting yellow hue given off by incandescent lamps, remember that a little compromise on color temperature will really help reduce your energy bill. Be a trend-setter, not a trend-follower - start converting your lights to true daylight colors, whether with fluorescent lights or LED house lights. You will make it easier for your neighbors to switch over, when they find out they won't be the first people with a slightly bluer light tinge in their homes.

Whether you switch some of your lights to LED MR16 Bulb lights now, or wait for the technology and reliability to improve, you can be sure that LEDs will play a bigger part in lighting our houses in the years ahead. In my opinion it makes sense to wait, except in certain special lighting situations where the highly directed, focused light of LEDs is what you want, and where you have money to spare. If you just want to save money - or to cut your energy use for environmental reasons - the same amount of money spent on weather-stripping, or most other energy efficiency upgrades, will reduce your energy bills and CO2 emissions more than buying today's LED MR16 Bulb lights.

Working With Spark Plugs in a Car

One of the important components of the most modern engines are the Spark Plug. These components are subjected to a lot of stress and should be checked periodically and replaced when needed. These components can be easily replaced with little care and some tools, the method is quick and straightforward but also a methodical procedure.

Replacing them will definitely be a rewarding task an individual can perform. It is a fairly simple and easy task and it takes only 40 minutes for a V8. Follow the directions.

Tools Needed

- 3/16 or 5/8 deep socket
- 3? and 6? drive extensions
- Swivel adapter for the driver allows for tight spaces
- Socket Driver

Directions

Step 1:
Before starting the work, consult a repair or service manual for the particular model and make of your vehicle.

Step 2:
Before you begin, Make sure that the car engine is turned off.

Step 3
Grip the plug wire boot without the wire for removing one spark-plug wire from one spark-plug. Using a Control cable wire puller will be better if available.

Step 4:
The spark-plug should not have any oil or dirt around it. If needed, wipe clean the area around the spark plug hole. Be sure not to brush away the oil and dirt from the hole.

Step 5:
For taking out the plug, only use proper tools. The plug has to be turned anti-clockwise to the left. A 5/8 or 13/16 deep socket is the appropriate tool for this task. You may also need a swivel joint and an extension.

Step 6:
Replace the plug with a new one and turn by hand until it is tightened.

Step 7:
For fitting in the new one, use the same tool that was used for taking out the old one.

Step 8:
Connect the spark plug wire to the new plug and make sure it is on.

Step 9:
All plugs have to be replaced by following the steps from 3 to 8.

Tips and Warnings

- Diesel engines do not have spark plugs.
- Consider installing high quality Control cable wires while you are under the hood.
- Examine the old spark plugs closely when you remove them. They are helpful in giving signs of how the vehicle is running.
- Everything will be kept in order by doing one plug at a time. A plug wire that is crossed means that the vehicle will fire out of order or miss fire.
- When you are at the auto parts store, a spark plug wire puller and a spark plug gaper is needed. Although the gap is already set on new plugs but it would be better to check it. The wire puller helps in saving the wires from getting pulled apart.
- There will be usually the 4 spark plugs in 4-cylinder engines located on top of the engine clearly visible. For 6 or 8-cylinder engines, follow the spark plug wires for locating the plugs.

How to make the small benchtop autoclave to change a big impression

The bench-style autoclave has been around for some time now, and has been developed for high-tech use. Modern electronics have found their way to the humble bench autoclave making it a device for the millennium in the medical field. Microbiological researchers have found the modern bench autoclave an indispensible device in their field, as do veterinarians, forensic scientists, and biologists.

The microbiological disciplines need an autoclave that is both easy to use and conveniently located. What better place to have this well-used device than on the laboratory bench. Easy access to this type of autoclave is necessary to keep things moving in the laboratory. The bench autoclave comes in many styles and functions. Microbiologists require total sterilization, so a front loading machine that has temperature and pressure control is needed. The preference is for the computer controlled bench autoclave. This assures accuracy for the time needed to exterminate all microbiological agents contaminating the objects desired to be cleaned.

Medical personnel such as nurse also benefit from this type of autoclave. Computer controlled steam generators that fit in an exam room can clean bandaging prior to application and can assure complete sterilization of back-office surgical procedures.

Research biologists who specialize in genetic systems and design need absolute sterilization of nearly every tool they use. Having a bench autoclave near at hand can assure them that the items they are using in experiments are completely uncontaminated. Any contamination would ruin any tests they perform, as the DNA from outside microbes would interfere with the sensitive procedures.

Some small industrial bench autoclaves are used in a myriad of functions, such as quality control of food production. Methods in certain types of food manufacturing require research and quality control, so the sterilization of certain parts of the research or quality experiments necessitates a bench autoclave.

Pharmaceuticals also need a these autoclave products. Certain research laboratories must use aseptic tools and techniques to assure quality and no contamination. Autoclaves are also used to eliminate certain chemical bonds so that new molecules can be constructed. Heat and pressure can provide this.

It is used in developing countries because of its portability and ease of use. This small autoclave is needed by doctors and hospitals in these countries because of the environments they work in. Without sterile tools and surgical implements, infection control would be non-existent. This product has saved many lives by assuring disinfection of the tools used in healthcare.

In this modern world of electronics we see the development of computerized bench autoclaves. This important design aids in the affirmation of sterilization and can be programmed to handle nearly any type of material. The automation of this product is also in development. Imagine just loading your items on a tray or hopper, then pushing a button and walking away. A timer controls everything, and soon your sterilized objects come out the other side, ready for use.

It is clearly an indispensable tool for anyone needing complete sterilization of nearly everything. Versatility and ease of use is an important part of the new and improved bench autoclave.

LED GU10 Bulb Lighting Pays Off in the Long Run

The advantages of LED lighting are tremendous. Simply put, LED lights use far less energy and last far longer than a traditional halogen or incandescent light. In addition, LED lights are safer than halogen and incandescent equivalents. Many people are scared off by the current cost of LED GU10 Bulb lamps, but you must look at the long-term operating cost as well as the other advantages that LED provides over traditional lighting.

LED lights require far less energy and the bulbs last far longer than an equivalent halogen light. LED MR16 Bulb lighting also burns at a far cooler temperature than a halogen light, making them a much safer option. You don't want to touch the base of an LED, but the glass stays relatively cool. By contrast, a halogen light operates at a very high temperature and can burn you or cause a fire. All of that heat used by the halogen lamp is inefficient. The halogen light emits 90% of its energy as heat and only 10% is used for lighting.

The biggest problem with LED lighting is the cost. When compared to an equivalent halogen, the LED MR16 Bulb light costs around 5 times as much up front.

When you add it all up, it is clear that LED GU10 Bulb lighting is the wave of the future, especially as prices continue to drop. Replace your old halogen lights with energy efficient and long lasting LED lighting. Your investment will pay off in the long run.

Cost Effective Ways to Heat Pump Your Swimming Pool

Many people are aware of the rising use of solar power in many gadgets that conventionally rely on electricity. But not all are aware of what exactly solar power is and how it is different from what is known as solar thermal power. Some people are under the erroneous impression that solar power and solar thermal power are one and the same.

Solar power is the electricity that is generated by using sunlight whereas solar thermal power is heat that is generated using sunlight. This power type is also more and more in use for household and commercial needs. A very common example of solar thermal power for home use is seen in its use for Heat Pump the water in a swimming pool.

The sun's energy is converted into thermal power with the intention to heat a swimming pool. Solar energy collectors are categorized into low, medium, and high collectors, and the solar panels used for heating a swimming pool are known as low collectors. This method is sometimes used for space heating. However, solar thermal power has not been found to be cost effective for home heat pump.

Water heating systems are also available which work on the principle of solar thermal power. Use of these water heaters is encouraged since it uses an environment friendly clean energy source. As such, users are entitled to a tax cut when they install it. Initial installation of these may not be cheap but the expenses will be made up by what is saved on energy bills.

High temperature thermal energy collectors are used in thermal energy plants for large scale power generation through devices like steam turbines. This is considered a very good alternative energy source for producing electricity. It is especially helpful for power production in slightly remote areas where the normal supply of electricity may not be regular.

Using solar thermal power is a very cost effective scenario. Besides the initial investment on the solar panels, there is no energy requirement at all. And the fact that there is no need to procure fossil fuels also makes it a good and environment friendly alternative for generating electricity.

Even for thermal plants involved in large scale power generation for supplying into the common grid, expenses are less since the main expense is setting up the building and maintaining it. So, energy can be made available at a cheaper price. It is also a pollution free method of energy generation and is safer than nuclear energy.

Harnessing the sun's abundant golden light to produce thermal energy is a good energy solution which helps the user economically, and helps the earth to remain green.

The Many Applications of the Autoclave

The autoclave has been an indispensable device around the world in medical laboratories, doctors' offices, pharmacy labs, veterinarians, and research laboratories. When sterile instruments are needed, they are easily put into that state with an autoclave.

Laboratory autoclave are the most affluent tool used in aseptic methodology. There are many shapes and sizes available, and the functions can range from the very simple pressure steam type oven, to the high-tech devices used in hospitals.

The simplest form of autoclave is very much like a pressure cooker. A pressure cooker has only two parts: the Pan or Kettle, and the Lid. The lid and pan are designed to latch onto each other securely to permit steam and pressure buildup. The longer heat is applied to the bottom, the more pressure.

This is an effective method of sterilization, because most organisms burst under the high pressure, and the heat alone can kill almost any bacterium. Simple autoclaves are built on this principle. The use of heat and pressure sensitive tape or paper during the sterilization process can indicate a successful cleaning.

Steam generators are just as the name implies. These devices generate huge amounts of high-temperature steam and steam pressure. This sterilization technique has an all-around successful rate, especially with stainless steel surgical implements. Chemicals can be added to the water used in the process to ensure complete sterilization.

These steam generator type autoclaves come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and modes. Many come with computer control devices that monitor such vital functions as steam temperature, water flow, and pressure. Timers are essential to the sterilization process, as this also reduces the amount of time it takes to clean objects.

Industrial autoclaves are used in many functions of manufacturing, from pharmaceuticals to food products. These very large autoclaves can be built to accommodate nearly any size product, and can be implemented on an assembly line for continuous manufacturing. Food products such as canned goods are sterilized completely in this manner before packaging to ensure quality of the product.

Autoclave effluent treatment is also a vital part of ecology and human health. Waste products from a variety of health industries need to be sterilized before moving to landfills or to be burned. Products such as used needles, old bandage material, bedding, plastic s, and body fluids need to be sterilized before disposal. This reduces risk of contagions in the environment.

These autoclaves are usually quite large, and are nearly always fully automated. Waste products are loaded into the maw of the device, which conveys the materials into the oven itself. Computers control the durations, pressure, temperature, and steam. This assures complete sterilization.

Without autoclaves the world would be a nasty place. The simplicity of the design of these essential tools is only shadowed by the technology used in perfecting the technique. Autoclaves are used all over the world, and without them developing countries would have increased infection rates among those having surgery, and waste materials would build up, becoming a hazard to the health of the population.

Those in the field such as surgeons and infection control specialists clamor for these simple devices. From early beginnings to the high-tech devices of today, autoclaves are the important part of the world.

LED GU10 Bulb and Their Use in Society

LED bulbs, or light-emitting diode bulbs are a semiconductor light source which is used within a wide range of devices as a source of lighting. During its introduction as a practical electronic component in 1962, LED GU10 Bulb were produced to emit low-intensity red light. However, through thorough designs and different advances within the field, more modern versions surfaced across the visible, ultraviolet and infrared wavelengths which provided a very high level of brightness. As the designs have evolved further, LEDs are now able to produce light which provides a variation of wavelengths from visible to ultra violet and infra red light. In fact, the overall design and manufacturing of LEDs has grown to such a scale that they are now commonly used in a wide range of electronic devices such as televisions as a means to improve the quality level of picture watching.

LEDs are diodes which mean that electricity can only travel through them one way. When a diode is switched on, electrons are able to recombine with holes within the device which releases energy in the form of photons- this process is called electroluminescence. It is this small gap where the LED MR16 Bulb is produced and when one surface is positively charged, the opposite will be negatively charged, electricity will flow and where the two charges meet, energy will be released in the form of light. The colour of the light which is emitted is dependent on the energy of the photon and the size of the energy gap within the semiconductor. It is due to their small scale that LEDs have been used in a wide range of devices which surround us every single day. This is not only due to its small scale, but also as they are low in cost but still produce a high strength of light for the user- in many cases, this quality of light surpasses the light which can be produced by other, similar light sources. In these instances, the Led is encased within a design which allows for the light to be channelled and reflected to the best of its ability without wasting any of the light which is emitted.

One of the most noticeable uses of LED MR16 Bulb is within traffic safety lights. This is in both the red/amber/green lights and highway lights which notify you of an accident/construction site, etc. These lights work in a flashing mode, which make them more noticeable and much more effective in terms of their use. They are also used around the home-often as an alternative light source to fluorescent lighting. This can be used for tasks such as under cabinet lighting, reading lamps, security lights and outdoor lighting. However, the use of LEDs also span over to many of your electrical goods too. Mobile phones, Televisions and Computer screens all use LEDs in some form in order to provide you with a set amount of lighting which when you think about it, shows just how far this tiny piece of lighting has come from 1962.

Heat Pump is Combine Going Green With Saving Money

If you’ve started to “go green” you’ve probably already noticed some benefits to the quality of life in your home, especially when it comes to saving money. Reducing your energy usage by taking actions such as Heat Pump replacing appliances with ENERGYSTAR rated ones cuts your energy bill in a measurable way. Or if you’ve installed your first dishwasher, you’re not only saving money and water, you’re saving yourself some hard work (and the skin on your hands thanks you, too!)
“Going green” is like that for our society at large as well as in each of our homes. It reduces financial cost, preserves our environment and enhances everyone’s quality of life. It touches every portion of our homes, from your central air units and central heating to your furnace air filters and gas heaters. Since it has such tangible benefits, our federal government along with many state governments are encouraging us to “go green” by offering yearly tax credits.

Did you know that if you install certain energy-efficient products or renewable energy systems you might qualify for a tax break of up to $1500, or more? But before we take a quick look at the current Federal Tax Credit program, you should also know that every state, plus the District of Columbia, offers a rebate program for purchasing ENERGYSTAR rated appliances. You can visit The Department of Energy’s website to learn more about what your state has to offer.

Currently, the state of Ohio plans to offer a rebate program, scheduled to begin in March 2010, which will apply to ENERGYSTAR qualified and ultra-efficient models of appliances that are purchased and installed to replace older, inefficient models. It will cover refrigerators, clothes washers, dishwashers, gas storage water heaters and electric heat pump water heaters. But the program will only last until all the funds allocated for it are spent, so don’t wait to apply for your rebate this year!

Now, on to the Federal Tax Credit program. First, to qualify, the energy efficient improvement must be done to your principal residence, not a second home and not a rental home.

If you make energy efficient improvements to the following areas, you may be eligible for a tax credit of 30% of cost, up to $1500:

Biomass Stoves

HVAC Systems

Insulation

Roofs (Metal and Asphalt)

Water Heaters (non-solar)

Windows and Doors

This tax credit is set to expire December 31, 2010.

If you make the following energy efficient installations, you may receive a tax credit of 30% of cost, with no upper limit:

Geothermal Heat Pump

Small Wind Turbines (Residential)

Solar Energy Systems

This tax credit is set to expire December 31, 2016.

Finally, if you make the following energy efficient home improvement to your primary residence, you may receive a tax credit of 30% of the cost, up to $500 per .5 kW of power capacity:

Fuel Cells (Residential Fuel Cell and Microturbine System)

This tax credit is also set to expire on December 31, 2016.

So if you are one of the thousands of homeowners interested in “going green,” don’t forget to look into the tax credit benefits and rebates that could be coming your way.

About The Introduction To Control cable

Founded by Silicon Image, Matsushita Electric Industrial (Panasonic/National/Quasar), Thomson (RCA), Hitachi, Philips, Sony, and Toshiba, High Definition Multimedia Interface (or, as it more popularly known, Control cable) has managed to establish itself as the standard for video and audio connection, making it a must-have for high definition home theaters. An Control cable is a digital link that transmits both high resolution audio and high definition video through one cable. Unlike the analog versions where you find multiple jacks feeding into audio and video separately, Control can do the job with one USB plug, all while producing high quality sound and images. Control cable has the capacity to process 1080p resolution videos at 60 frames per second.

As the digital option for the older analog models (e.g., VGA, SCART, composite video, radio frequency coaxial cables, and S-Video), Control cable can support TV and PC video formats through a single cable and handle as much as 8 digital audio channels. It also has a Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) link that allows the user to Control cable more than a couple of devices using a single remote control.

The advent of High Definition Television (HDTVs) has led to an increased demand for Spark Plug. As it is, each HDTV comes with 2 or more Control cable inputs, allowing a linkage with gadgets like game consoles, DVD players, Blu-ray players, DVRs.

Unlike the older cables, an Spark Plug has combined video and audio feeds into one cable.

There are four types of Control cable connectors. Type A and Type B falls under the Control cable 1.0, Type C falls under the Control cable 1.3, and Type D falls under the Control cable 1.4.

Type A comes with the kind of bandwidth that has the capacity to support digital television modes; namely, SDTV, HDTV and EDTV. It has 19 pins and a 13.9 mm × 4.45 mm male plug connector that attaches to the 14 mm × 4.55 mm female receptacle connector Electrically, Type A Control cable is can sync with a single-link DVI-D.

Type B has 29 pins and can support twice the video bandwidth that Type A can, and is best employed for viewing very high-resolution WQUXGA (3840×2400) images. Electrically, it can sync with dual-link DVI-D.

Type C, like Type A, has 19 pins, although it has a smaller plug. It is a mini connector meant for portable devices.

Type D is a micro connector with 19 pins similar to a micro-USB plug.

The fact is; Spark Plug are a vital piece of the puzzle when it comes to modern electronic equipment. You can't make the connection without them.

Autoclaves And Sterilizers - Operational Steps In Using And Maintaining An Autoclave

In order to provide the highest standards in infection control, a perfectly maintained autoclave or sterilizer is of utmost improtance.

While most surgical instruments nowadays are manufactured from stainless steel, care and attention is still required to enable the instruments to provide better services and to ensure that they remain in the best condition even after a prolonged period of use.

Here are some simple but important operational steps to be followed to ensure your steam autoclave works to the desired purpose and to ensure they would be well maintained.

Instruments to be autoclaved are to be done so in distilled water, tap water or soft ware as hard water have the tendency to leave behind deposits on the instruments, and affect the joints of the instruments, often making them stiff.

After the instruments are used, clean and decontaminate all instruments in cold or lukewarm water. The primary purpose of doing so is to ensure that the instruments do not become stained and so that the joints do not become stiff.

Generally, put the instruments that are to be sterilized into the dressing drum of the autoclave, making sure that the holes of the dressing drum are opened to allow the steam to enter the dressing drum and reach the instruments to be sterilized, and place the drum into the autoclave.

After placing the lid on the container, tighten the lid by opposite locking nuts.

As soon as the pressure gauge shows a pressure of 2lbs, allow the enclosed air to escape by opening the air exhaust valve.

As the pressure reaches to about 15 lbs or the equivalent of 1.05 kgf per square cm, the main safety valve will automatically come into operation and start blowing off excess steam maintaining pressure of 15 lbs inside the autoclave.

To open the container, apply some firm force by holding the lid handle and turn it towards the right, till both the arrow marks on the lid and container co-incide. Then lift and remove the lid using the lifting handle.

When unloading an autoclave, it is a good idea to open the door and wait 10 minutes in order to assure proper evaporation and drying before removing the cart.

The most frequent reason for sterilization failure is lack of contact between the steam and the germs that you are trying to kill.

Air usually moves to the bottom of the autoclave because it is heavier than steam and is then forced out through the drain.

It is essential that packs are placed on their sides to make sure that the air is not trapped and cannot escape.

It is also easier for the air to be forced downwards between the packs than to go through the many layers of packs that have been placed flat.

By operating the autoclave using an operational checklist, and by maintaining an operational log, it is possible to reduce human errors of operation and to troubleshoot difficulties that arise during operation.

Where it is a health service such as a hospital that requires sterilization service, a Central Supplies And Stores Department or CSSD manned by qualified and experienced CSSD technicians and nurses will be necessary to enable the highest standard of health care and to ensure the surgical instruments and supplies are well sterilized, enabling the autoclave to have the optimum lifespan of service as they are well taken care of and maintained.

Buy LED GU10 bulb Lights And Brighten Up Your House

The GU10 led is amongst the most up-to-date led light bulbs available today. The first halogen LED GU10 bulb was made by a company called Sylvania and was brought to the market as a replacement for the low voltage dichroic halogen lamp. It was simple for the LED GU10 bulb to replace the dichroic halogen lamp because the latter needed an expensive dichroic lamp and transformer combo.

While placed behind a light supply, dichroic reflectors usually reflect perceptible light to the front whilst allowing the unseen infrared light to pass out of the back of the unit, resulting in a beam of light that is cooler. Many quartz halogen bulbs have an incorporated dichroic reflector for this reason and is now commonly used for internal home and commercial lighting.

While located ahead of a light source, a dichroic filter produces light that is apparent to humans as being extremely deep in color. Even though costly, such filters are common nowadays

On the other hand the GU10 led bulb was provided as a 240v replacement, which generally has a working life of roughly 2500 hours. If you're planning to purchase GU10 led lights then you'll be delighted to know that it is not dear and can provide a even halogen light for your house. You can make use of the GU10 for your lavatory, kitchen, hallway and bedroom.

The GU10 led is a novel light bulb that may provide excellent intense light for your home. Amongst the reasons why the general public buy LED GU10 bulb lights is that they last up to almost thirty times more than a number of of their equivalent halogen bulbs. Therefore, it is regarded as one of the least expensive light bulbs yet. In fact, lately, the Envirolight GU10 led was launched and it is creating waves because it uses merely 2.3 watts of electricity and the cost is surprisingly low. It's got a lamp life of twenty-five years and this relies on it use of 3 hours per day. The Envirolight GU10 guarantees a maximum of ninety percent savings on all your electricity costs.

There are different sorts of GU10 led lights to make a choice from. If you are intending to acquire GU10 led lights then here's a comparison re energy saving for a 3W high power GU10 led. If you utilize a standard 25W bulb over your life then the cost of the energy will be more or less one hundred pounds. If you use a LED MR16 bulb for your lifetime then the energy cost will be approx $11. This demonstrates the degree of savings possible over the normal life of the led bulb.

Therefore your energy saving over your lifetime will be approximately $79.20 for use of getting up to 30,000 hours. Hence, buying LED MR16 bulb lights for your house will be useful for you in the longer term.

The saying goes that a home is where the heart is but more|Most frequently than not, many folks don't spend any time or money on the lighting. Lighting is an important part of home decoration and the type of lights you select will not only make your home seem gorgeous but also help you to save money on your energy costs. Rio Tinto Group, the U.S. company has introduced Kennecott Molybdenum Autoclave Proce

Recently, Rio Tinto said it would invest 270 million U.S. dollars for the construction of a wholly-owned subsidiary of the United States Ken Nike Teyou his Copper Company (Kennecott Utah Coppe, KUC) Molybdenum Autoclave Process (Molybdenum Autoclave Process, MAP) plant is expected to 2 quarter of 2010 production annual capacity of 30 million pounds of molybdenum, and rhenium to produce about 9000 pounds. In the last 3 months, the average spot price of rhenium has reached 4300 U.S. dollars / lb.

The company plans to build a continuous production line, that is, KUC's Bingham Canyon plant is located in Salt Lake City is responsible for mining ores, and then a new MAP facility to deal with these ore molybdenum concentrate is generated. Past KUC ore companies are destined for Europe and South America roasting process, the new MAP facility for companies to reduce the molybdenum concentrate from ore to the expenditure, and will enhance the company's recovery rate of 7% molybdenum. At the same time, KUC will the ball in the United States, Utah, New molybdenum production equipment, self-Mo ball from the west coast of the United States destined for Asian markets.

Molybdenum Autoclave Process belongs to hydrometallurgy, the Act on KUC upon development within the company conducted a long test run. Even if the high content of mineral impurities, the law also can be processed into its handling of the higher grade molybdenum concentrate. In addition, the law has reached the United States environmental protection standards, the target has been difficult to pass the barriers roasting molybdenum concentrates.

MAP produced by industrial molybdenum from the molybdenum content of 60% to 64-66%, the largest concentration of copper will be reduced to 0.1% maximum sulfur content will be lowered to 0.04%. In addition, the law also can produce molybdenum chemical products, the current demand for molybdenum chemical products gradually expanded, but still lower than the demand for iron and steel with molybdenum.

The current global molybdenum processing with a continuous production line of business, namely, Central Purchasing ore, molybdenum, and molybdenum production for the integrated enterprise has been largely restricted, for example, the U.S. Freeport-McMoRan Copper and Gold Mine and the Thompson Creek Metals Company is a continuous production line with a molybdenum processing the two companies.

Molybdenum autoclave products in recent 2-3 years, prices continued to rise, mainly lack of molybdenum concentrate roasting equipment. However, Chile Molymet expand production capacity 50 percent molybdenum, which molybdenum concentrate roasting equipment, lack of status quo can change, thus a surplus situation. Plus 2010 KUC's MAP, and put into use, the world's molybdenum concentrate roasting capacity will be further expanded, so after 2010, manufacturers will shift production of molybdenum high-quality molybdenum, when the molybdenum market will be changed dramatically.
